The attack on Rangarajan, the chief archaka of the Chilkur Balaji Temple, on February 7, sent shockwaves through the Hindu community. The incident underscores the growing threats to prominent dharmic leaders and raises serious concerns about the motivations behind such acts of violence. Following a formal complaint, the Moinabad police acted swiftly, arresting Veera Raghav Reddy, a key figure in the attack. An FIR has been registered against him under sections 189(2), 333, 308(5), 115(2), 352, and 351(3), r/w 190 of the BNS. The accused has since been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
Who is Veera Raghav Reddy?
Veera Raghav Reddy, whose full name is Kovvuri Veera Raghav Reddy, hails from Koppavaram village in Anaparthi Mandal of East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. Having discontinued his education in the 10th standard, he entered the finance business. In 2022, he registered a family trust named ‘Kosalendra Trust’ in Hyderabad, assuming the role of President, with his wife, Kovvuri Lakshmi Anusha Reddy, serving as Chairperson.
Kosalendra Trust – A Breach of Its Mission
According to information available on the Darpan website (www.ngodarpan.gov.in, Unique VO/NGO ID: TS/2023/0343989), the stated objectives of Kosalendra Trust include initiatives in animal husbandry, drinking water provision, family welfare, healthcare, youth skill training, rural development, women empowerment, poverty eradication, and science & technology.
However, reports indicate that instead of adhering to these objectives, Veera Raghav Reddy has misused the trust’s platform to establish a paramilitary group under the name ‘Rama Rajya Army.’
This so-called army operates as a subsidiary of the trust, diverting focus from its declared mission.
The group has been actively recruiting individuals through a dedicated website (www.ramarajyam.net), offering recruits a salary of Rs. 20,000 per month along with free food and accommodation.
Public disclosures on the Rama Rajyam website reveal that the Kosalendra Trust received substantial funds, with Rs. 1.22 lakh collected in December 2024 alone for the establishment of this private militia.
These financial operations have sparked concerns, especially since donations to the trust have been eligible for tax benefits under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, despite the organization deviating from its declared mission. This suggests possible financial misrepresentation and misuse of public funds.
These activities indicate a potential misrepresentation of the trust’s intentions and operations.
The Disturbing Conduct of Veera Raghav Reddy
Many individuals drawn into Veera Raghav Reddy’s rhetoric believe they are serving the cause of Hindu Dharma. However, his erratic statements and actions have led to growing skepticism about his real motives and mental stability. He has made outlandish claims, including being a descendant of the Ikshvaku dynasty and asserting control over the Nava Grahas (celestial bodies).

Further adding to concerns, he has made unfounded claims about his authority over law enforcement. In one instance, he stated that he could enter a courtroom and arrest a judge if a ruling was deemed anti-democratic.
In another bizarre event, he visited the West Godavari District Collector’s office, declared the Collector under arrest, and demanded police intervention, leaving officials bewildered
Threat to Hindu Spiritual Leaders
Veera Raghav Reddy’s activities extend beyond mere rhetoric. Reports suggest he has been actively intimidating Hindu spiritual leaders, priests, and temple authorities, extorting money under the guise of religious activism. His actions resemble those of an organized crime syndicate rather than a legitimate religious movement.
The attack on the chief priest of the Chilkur Balaji Temple, along with his history of coercion and intimidation, suggests a calculated effort to undermine religious institutions. This growing radicalization threatens the sanctity of Hindu religious traditions and the harmony within the broader community.
A Call for Government Action
The emergence of radical elements like Veera Raghav Reddy raises serious concerns about the distortion of the revered concept of “Rama Rajyam.” The Hindu community has strongly condemned his actions and is calling on the governments of both Telugu states to launch an in-depth investigation into the financial and operational activities of the Kosalendra Trust.
The authorities must take swift and decisive action to ensure that religious institutions remain sanctified spaces, free from intimidation and coercion. The misuse of public donations, the formation of unauthorized militias, and the threats to religious leaders must be addressed with the full force of the law to preserve social harmony and uphold the true values of Hindu Dharma.
Elements like Veera Raghav Reddy pose a grave threat to society, reflecting a dangerous mindset fueled by intolerance and aggression. Such individuals undermine social harmony, targeting Dharmic leaders to instill fear and disrupt cultural fabric. Their actions demand strict legal consequences to deter future violence and protect the values of faith, peace, and communal integrity.
