Ayodhya Ram Mandir: Honouring pandits and acharyas, grand entrances lead the way amid rapid construction

The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra has announced a historic decision to name the four grand entrances of the Ram Mandir complex after revered acharyas of Sanatan Dharma, acknowledging their pivotal roles in the Ram Mandir movement. This decision, proposed by Champat Rai, General Secretary of the Trust, received unanimous approval during a recent meeting of the mandir construction committee. Nripendra Mishra, Chairman of the construction committee, shared these updates with the media, highlighting the progress and the cultural significance tied to the mandir’s development.

The construction of the Ram Mandir and its surrounding complex is advancing rapidly, with 60 per cent of the rampart’s work completed. Of the 8.40 lakh cubic feet of stone earmarked for the rampart, three lakh cubic feet remain to be installed. The rampart will eventually feature six mandirs dedicated to Hindu pandits, along with a one-kilometer-long ‘Parkota’ connecting the mandir corridors. The entire rampart and the six mandirs are expected to be completed by June 2025.

Additionally, the finishing touches on the first and second floors of the Ram Mandir are in progress, with the installation of Ram Darbar on the first floor scheduled to begin soon. Statues crafted in Jaipur are undergoing final inspection and waterproofing, and their installation is expected to be completed ahead of the mandir’s grand opening.

A significant feature of the mandir complex, the Pushkarini Sarovar, is under construction near the Saptmandapam mandirs. The Saptmandapam itself is 70 per cent complete, with the remaining stonework slated for completion by February 2025. The finishing of this sacred structure will conclude by March, coinciding with the landscaping of ‘Haritika Vithi’ (a green-filled area) and the preparation of ‘Padavesh’ (dedicated spaces for footwear).

Preparations are in full swing for the Pran Pratishtha Dwadashi on January 11, which will mark the installation of the murtis in the sanctum sanctorum. Names of dignitaries and pandits to be invited for this historic occasion are being finalised. The Trust has also taken measures to manage the anticipated surge in devotees, especially during the upcoming Maha Kumbh Mela in January. Currently, the mandir attracts around one lakh visitors daily, a number expected to multiply manifold during these auspicious events.

Advanced lightning conductors and flag poles are being installed to safeguard the mandir and its associated pavilions. These features will ensure the safety of the structures and devotees in the sprawling mandir complex.

By dedicating the gates to iconic figures of Sanatan Dharma, the Ram Mandir Trust aims to immortalise the contributions of padits and sages who championed the Ram Mandir cause. This initiative aligns with the Trust’s vision of merging spirituality with cultural heritage.
