In a recent clarification, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) dismissed reports suggesting a 15 per cent reduction in the syllabus for Classes 10 and 12 board examinations in 2025. The Board categorically stated that no such policy decision has been taken and termed the reports as baseless.
The controversy arose after certain media outlets claimed that CBSE had announced a syllabus cut of up to 15 per cent. The reports attributed the statement to Vikas Kumar Agrawal, the Board’s regional officer, who allegedly made the announcement during a school principal summit, ‘Bridging the Gap,’ held in Indore.
In response, CBSE issued an official note clarifying that it has not introduced any changes to its evaluation system or examination policies. “The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) would like to clarify that the Board has not issued any such notice or made any changes to the evaluation system or examination policy, and no official announcement has been made in this regard. Therefore, such reports are considered baseless,” the statement read.
The Board underscored that all official updates related to policy decisions are communicated exclusively through its official website or other authorised channels. It urged stakeholders, including students, parents, and educational institutions, to refrain from relying on unverified reports and instead refer to official announcements for accurate information.
Reiterating its stance, CBSE added, “Information related to the Board’s policy decisions is only published through the Board’s official website or through authorised channels.”
This clarification seeks to address the widespread confusion triggered by the speculative reports and reinforces CBSE’s commitment to transparency in disseminating information.
