According to Indian philosophy, the excellence period in the history of the universe is the time of development and prosperity of human civilization, through which cosmic energy was positively transmitted. By December 2022, the total population of the world had crossed 800 crores, in which about 140 crores are Indians. Here, a question is often propagated as a narrative that Bharat was never a country, Bharat is not a nation, today such ideological differences are reflected through the article.
History of Bharat Rashtra
Hindu is the name by which Bharat, Hindustan, India has been known and recognized all over the world for ages. This word is derived from the word Sindhu, which is a direct manifestation of geographical form and geographical identity. Thousands of years ago, the supreme way of life developed from the womb of Vedic Aryan culture on the banks of the Indus River, that spreads over time from the Himalayas to the Indus Sea. In Rig Veda, the world’s first written text, this place was named Saptasindhu i.e. the region of seven rivers.
Bharat or Bharatvarsha is the most effective and popular name. This name has national as well as political connotation. According to ancient history, thousands of years ago this place was ruled by Emperor Bharat, which later became the basis of the name Bharat (India).
According to Vishnu Purana – “Uttaram Yat Samudrasya Himadreshchaiva Dakshinam,. Varsham Tad Bharatam Naam Bharati Yatra Santatih.”
That is, the name of the nation which is situated north of the sea and south of the Himalayas is India and the descendants of India are called Indians.
The second President of the country, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, in his address to the nation on the eve of Republic Day on 26 January 1965, addressed a verse from his ancient literature ‘Kularnava Tantra’ in the context of the name Hindustan –
“Himalaya Samarabhya Yavadindu Sarovaram. Hindu Sthana Mitti Khyat Band Yantaksharayogatha.” That is, the land extending from the Himalayas to Indus Sarovar Kanyakumari is called Hindustan.
The Chinese pilgrim and philosopher Huen Tsong (602-664) while studying the culture and defining the scriptures on his visit to India addressed Hindus as Shintu in literature. The names and identities of the pilgrims who went outside India to Central-East Asia to propagate the teachings of Lord Buddha have been a reflection of Hindu culture.
In Ramayana, Shri Ram ji leaves from Ayodhya for exile, who after a long journey through the present-day Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab reaches Rameswaram in the far south, from where he builds Ram Setu to go to Lanka. That is, emotionally and culturally, even thousands of years ago, India (Bharat) was known as a single nation.
Adi Shankaracharya has a great contribution in the development and propagation of the ancient Indian Sanatan tradition. To spread the Indian Sanatan tradition throughout the country, he established four monasteries in the four corners of India, whose main task was to propagate the four Vedas of the Vedic tradition in a meaningful way.
· Sringeri Math – Southern part of India Rameshwaram – Yajurveda
· Govardhan Math – Eastern part of India Odisha – Rigveda
· Sharda Math – Western part of India Gujarat – Samaveda
· Jyotirmath – Northern part of India Badrikashram of Uttarakhand – Atharvaveda
The Jyotirlinga, revered in the Shaiva sect, the pillar of India’s Sanatan culture, is established in the entire country of India. There is such pauranik evidence that wherever the Jyotirlinga is established, Mahadev himself is present there. That is, in the Sanatan culture, the supreme power himself is the evidence of the unification of the Indian nation, so that harmony and goodwill can be established in the entire country.
“Saurashtra Somanatham cha Srishaile Mallikarjunam.
Ujjayinya Mahakaalm Omkarammaleshwaram.
Paralyam Vaidyanatham cha Dakinyam Bhimshankaram.
Setubandhe tu Ramesham Nageshan Darukavane.
Varanasyaam tu Vishvesham Trimbakam Gautamitatte.
Himalayas tu Kedaram Ghushmesham cha Shivalaye. “
In the above verse, the overall picture of the places of Jyotirlinga and the centers of power established in all directions and places of the Indian nation shows the feeling of integrity. To provide a sense of unity to the entire nation of India, the entire Jyotirlingas were written in the form of verses and the whole of India was strung together in the garland of one nation.
In fact, the Indian nation includes many states and many communities, but in cultural form India is one from Attuck to Cuttack. This is the idea of a akhand (unified) Bharat of great men like Vinayak Savarkar, Lokmanya Tilak, Swami Vivekananda and Nathuram Godse.
Bharat Rashtra and Aryan vs Dravidian Narrative
According to the then British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, “Bharat is neither a country nor a nation, it is a continent in which many countries are settled.” Many leftist historians of India propagated this idea of Churchill under the influence of foreign ideology, under which the leftists also proposed the division of Bharat into 17 pieces at the time of independence.
Even in the present times, many historians and journalists become political puppets and keep attacking the soul and social brotherhood of Bharat Rashtra, the easiest way of which is to show hatred towards Sanatan culture by insulting the idols of the whole of India.
It is written in the book ‘Hindu Swaraj’ written by Mohan Das Gandhi in 1909, “You (Indians) were taught by the British that you were not a nation and it will take you hundreds of years to form a nation. This is absolutely baseless. Two Britishers are not as united as we Indians are and will remain united.” On being questioned on this, Gandhi ji wrote that, “People of any religion can live in India, but that nation is not going to be destroyed. Foreigners cannot destroy the Indian nation, but they can mix with it.”
The British rule, which occupied India for about 200 years, initially formed the East India Company for India on 30 December 1600. When Britishers invaded America their native residents were called as ‘Red Indians’. If the Indian nation was not known as a country here, then why was the East India Company named after the word India by the British?
Leftist historians and British sycophants propagated more falsehoods, prominent among them are,
1. Aryans were the invaders, who attacked northern India and pushed the original Dravid citizens towards the south. The scripture Ramayana was also used to prove this.
2. Vedic texts were created by Brahmins to justify inhumane behaviour towards the original residents of India.
Sycophant historians presented such separatist and disruptive discourse in the name of Aryan vs Dravidian and damaged the identity of the Indian nation, which mainly affected social harmony and goodwill. This narrative was not structurally opposed by any nationalist organization and due to propaganda, a large part of Indian society believes this false narrative to be true.
It is difficult to describe factually who was behind this Aryan vs Dravidian narrative. But its purpose was to demonize the Brahmins in Indian society and destroy the backbone of the society, which would have become helpless and trapped in a slave mentality once it was destroyed. The seeds of sowing of this poisonous mentality can be traced back to the 16th century.
When Islamic propaganda and terror was at its peak in North-West India, French priest St. Xavier stepped into Goa in Southern part of India as a missionary of the Catholic Church. Its main purpose was to convert people in India on the orders of the Catholic Church, which was opposed the most by the Brahmin community. In a letter written to the ‘Rome Society’ on 31 December 1543, Xavier called the Brahmins ‘pagans’ and said, “If the Brahmins had not opposed, we would have converted all the Hindus and brought them under the shelter of the church. Since I have come to the country, I have been able to convert only one Brahmin.”
As a result of this letter, dozens of temples and idols of gods and goddesses were demolished and Hindu rituals were banned by 1559 on the orders of the Catholic Church and Portuguese Christian missionaries. As soon as the ‘Goa Inquisition’ was allowed, Xavier launched a religious campaign against the native citizens, in which the tongues of non-Catholics were cut and their skin was peeled off while they were still alive. Bharat Ratan Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar has also mentioned these atrocities in his writings.
After Xavier, Robert de Nobili came to India in 1606 with a new conversion strategy. He saw that even after spreading the evil propaganda of Sanatan against Brahmin, the rest of the Hindus still have respect for Brahmins. To counter this, Nobili himself became a Brahmin and started preaching Christianity in the guise of a Sanyasi. He also translated his religious texts in the local languages of India. When people became suspicious due to his white skin, he told himself to be a Brahmin from a high caste family of Rome.
Xavier- Nobili’s deadly ideology converted a lot of Indian society in just a year by subverting ideologically . By adding an article in the charter of the East India Company in the year 1800, they not only paved the way for the conversion of local Indians by British priests and Christian missionaries. With the help of the British, the churches and Christian missionaries first tried to convert the Brahmins as well as the upper caste and educated class people of the Hindu society in Chennai, but could not succeed like Xavier. After this, Christian missionaries changed their strategy and by demonizing Brahmins, they made the neglected and oppressed sections of the society, who are now called Scheduled Castes, victims of their religious agenda.
During this period, the feeling of independence had become strong in South India, which became the biggest obstacle for the missionaries. By demonizing Brahmins and to provide political protection to the missionaries, in 1917, the South Indian Liberal Federation, which was also named as ‘Justice Party’, was formed.
In reality, the British started the policy of divide and rule to maintain their rule in India forever. Its first adverse effect was not by breaking the country but by breaking the social brotherhood of the Indian nation. The direct form of which was the Dravidian movement, in which E.V. Ramaswamy Periyar emerged as a leader.
By the year 1947, Periyar openly encouraged conversion to Islam and Christianity. The Dravidian movement of Ramaswamy Periyar, the flag bearer of British tyranny, is based on hatred. That is why, he presented political philosophies like Aryan vs Dravidian, Brahmin vs Non-Brahmin, Hindi vs Tamil, South India vs North India, etc. Even in the present times, the Dravidian leaders of South India have adopted the Aryan invasion theory as the root source of separatism and without it, the so-called Dravidism has no ideological basis.
The Brahmins in Indian Hindu society were called unjust by the admirers of Macaulay- Marxist ideas and two options were left before the society-
1. One, convert to Abrahamic religion i.e. Christianity or Islam, 2. The other should become an atheist or a leftist.
Bharat Ratan Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar intellectually opposed such ideas through his books, but in the present times, such pure ideas are being propagated by the admirers of Babasaheb, which is a matter of contemplation.
Aryan is not a race but a language
The Aryan vs Dravidian narrative by the Indian leftist thought was considered as a race or species by European scholars. But Babasaheb Ambedkar did not consider Aryan as a race or species. Ambedkar agreed with Max Muller that Aryan is not a race or species but a language. Aryan means the one who tills the land. The word Aryan was also used for respect and being born in a noble family. [Book: Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar Yatra Ke Padchhin, Author: Dr. Kuldeep Agnihotri, Page 86]
But unfortunately, western scholars formulated the theory of Aryan invasion on the basis of the narrative of breaking India. But in opposition to them, Ambedkar repeatedly said that the word Aryan is not related to blood, body structure or hair, its direct meaning is that the one who speaks Aryan language is Aryan. For example, every person speaking Punjabi language in Punjab is a Punjabi, irrespective of his religion or sect.
He asks that what is the evidence that shows that Aryans invaded India and subjugated the original inhabitants of this place? If they came from outside to invade, then from which place did they come? What is the place of origin of Aryans?
If Aryans invaded India and defeated the original inhabitants of this place, then its indications should have been found In Vedic writings, but this is not so. Ambedkar wrote to P.T. Srinivasan Iyengar has been mentioned, according to which wherever there is a reference to the words Arya, Das and Dasyu in the Vedic mantras, it is related to the method of worship, not to any caste.
Mantra Viplav means changing facts as per your convenience and presenting them for your own benefit so that the narrative based on falsehood can be expanded. Such false facts were raised by the British and the leftist corridor of the present time so that the tolerant society of India can be weakened and the flow of Vedic thoughts like nationalism and brotherhood can be removed from the daily routine of the society. Along with this, the local residents of India abandon their loyalty towards the Indian nation and become ideological puppets of foreign countries, due to which the native influence is less and the ill effects of the western tradition are more. Russian leftist dictator Stalin had said that, “If the people of a nation abandon their native thoughts and adopt foreign thinking, then the downfall of that nation is certain.” Indian society will have to oppose the leftist and anti-social narrative by coming together and spreading nationalist discourse so that India can once again be put on the path of harmony and progress.
