Imphal: Kuki terrorists once again targeted security forces in trouble-hit Manipur. This time the Kuki terrorists targeted the state police force. The Bodobekra Police Station in Jakuradhor, which is situated in the Bodobekra subdivision of the Jiribam district, was the target of  Kuki terrorists on October 19. During the attack, which started at around 5:30 am, Kuki terrorists threw hand grenades and fired numerous rounds with sophisticated firearms at the police station’s eastern boundary. Manipur Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) security forces engaged in a fierce gunfight in retaliation, according to sources. The extremists were able to flee despite the quick counterattack, avoiding detention as security troops fired back.

Authorities have increased search efforts in the vicinity of the event, deploying more troops to find the perpetrators of the attack. In an effort to stop any militant activity and bring safety back to the area, authorities have increased security in the district.

“These are very difficult times, but we have been trying to tackle it with the best strength and with everyone’s cooperation,” Manipur DGP Rajiv Singh adds. We will make every effort to resolve certain issues as soon as possible because we also want peace and normalcy to return as soon as feasible. The disruption of normal life and extensive harm have occurred. Things have been better during the past 1.5 months. Deaths, injuries, and violence have decreased.

Arsonings and firings occur occasionally, but everyone is on duty and the security forces are on guard to ensure that nothing gets out of hand. I ask communities on both sides to voice their opinions and attempt to resolve the issue via dialogue. A calm discussion between the two communities, taking into consideration all parties involved, will be the only way to resolve this issue in the end. Our force is highly nice to civilians. In certain cases, the security personnel have refrained from exerting themselves since doing so would cause significant harm to the defenceless population.

Meanwhile,Manipur Police detained two active members of the banned KCP (PWG gang) on October 18, 2024. They were Mutum Inao Singh, age 31, and Khwairakpam Rajen Singh, age 25, from Pureiromba Khongnangmakhong, Imphal East District. They engaged in many discriminatory practices, including extortion of the public.
