In a chilling case that has sent shockwaves through the city of Jaisalmer, the police have cracked a double murder case involving two young children, whose bodies were found in a water tank on October 5, 2024. The accused, Ehsan Ali and Sonia Bano, both relatives of the deceased, have been arrested. Ehsan is the children’s uncle, while Sonia is their maternal aunt.

The victims, 7-year-old Mohammad Hasnain and 8-year-old Mohammad Adil were cousins and lived in the same neighbourhood. Their brutal murder has left the local community in disbelief, as new details of the crime emerge. Reports suggest that the children had inadvertently witnessed something they should not have—Ehsan Ali and Sonia Bano in a compromising situation, leading to their tragic deaths.

According to the investigation, the children had walked in on Ehsan and Sonia at an inappropriate time. Fearing disgrace and the potential exposure of their illicit relationship, Ehsan and Sonia conspired to murder the children to protect their secret.

On the fateful day, October 5, the children were playing in the neighborhood and went to Ehsan’s house, which was nearby. It was during this time that they saw Ehsan and Sonia together. Panicking, Sonia allegedly sat on young Hasnain’s chest and strangled him to death. Ehsan, following suit, attempted to kill Adil in the same manner. However, when Adil resisted and did not succumb to the strangulation, Ehsan struck him on the head with an iron rod. The force of the blow split Adil’s head open, resulting in his death.

Once the children were dead, Ehsan and Sonia packed their lifeless bodies into a sack and dumped them in the water tank of an abandoned house nearby. To cover up the crime, the duo meticulously cleaned the bloodstains at the scene and made efforts to destroy any other evidence that could link them to the murders.

The children were reported missing later that same evening when they failed to return home. A frantic search ensued, with Ehsan even participating, attempting to divert suspicion. The search continued for several hours, and it was only later in the evening that police found the bodies of Hasnain and Adil floating in the water tank. The condition of the bodies indicated foul play, and a full-scale investigation was launched. Distraught family members, suspecting murder, gathered at the hospital where the postmortem was conducted and staged a protest, demanding justice for the two young boys.

As the investigation unfolded, police began to focus on Ehsan, whose behavior had raised suspicions. A search of his home yielded crucial evidence, including bloodstains, that could not be explained away. Ehsan was taken into custody for questioning, and under interrogation, he eventually broke down and confessed to the crime. Sonia, too, was arrested shortly thereafter.

The police revealed that Ehsan and Sonia had been having an affair for several years. Their homes were close to each other, making it easier for them to continue the illicit relationship. When the children discovered their secret, the fear of public humiliation drove them to commit the heinous crime.

The murder has caused outrage throughout Jaisalmer, with local residents condemning the cold-blooded actions of Ehsan and Sonia. The parents of the children, who had initially thought their sons had simply gone missing while playing, are now grappling with the devastating reality that their loved ones were murdered by family members they trusted.

Speaking to the media, a senior police official stated, “We have solved the case of the murder of two children and arrested the key accused, Ehsan Ali and Sonia Bano. Their confession has confirmed that the crime was committed in an attempt to cover up an illicit relationship. We are now preparing to present the case in court and will ensure that justice is served.”

Further investigations are ongoing, with the police continuing to gather evidence to ensure a watertight case against the accused. The community remains in mourning, with prayers being held for the two innocent children who lost their lives so tragically.
