NEW DELHI: There is good news for people who are making rounds to get caste certificates in Uttar Pradesh. There will be no need for verification for caste certificates in the state. The Yogi Government has taken a big decision regarding caste certificate verification. The Yogi Government has made the caste certificate process easier.

If the Tehsildar finds the related documents correct, he will be able to issue a caste certificate within two days without verification. However, if there is any complaint or dispute, it will be cancelled immediately.

Principal Secretary of Revenue Department P Guruprasad has issued a Government order in this regard.

Till now there is an online and offline system for getting a caste certificate in the state. You can apply online from home without visiting the office. However, after getting the caste certificate, one had to go to the tehsil for verification. Now the caste certificate will be valid without verification. For caste certificate, applicant’s Aadhaar card, self attested declaration form, photo copy of ration card, identity card, home address are required.

Now, to get a caste certificate, you have to login on the e-district portal edistrict.up.gov.in with your mobile number and email ID. After this, the Aadhaar number will be filled. After this, an OTP will come on your mobile number. As soon as you submit it, the applicant’s name, date of birth and photo will start appearing. After verification, if there is a family ID, it will automatically appear on the server. If the Tehsildar is satisfied with this, then the certificate will be issued to the applicant of SC / ST and OBC category.

However for the non-creamy layer OBC category, there is some different procedure, the applicant will have to submit an income certificate.

If different caste certificates have been issued to members of the same family, then they will be verified and issued as per the earlier system. OBC category will also have to fill the number of income certificates while applying on the e-district portal. Then the Tehsildar will take a declaration from the applicant that he is a member of this family and comes under OBC non-creamy layer, then he will be issued a caste certificate without verification.
