NEW DELHI: There is good news for the farmers of Uttar Pradesh, as Chief Minister Yogi Adityantah-led government has taken a very big decision, which will benefit crores of farmers of the state. Under the new decision, the Yogi government is all set to introduce Kisan Cards for the farmers of the state on the lines of Aadhaar Card.

The government believes this is the new Uttar Pradesh of new Bharat where farmers and their efforts are recognised and respected and this step is an addition to the efforts to uplift the farmers.

For this, a farmer registry has started in the entire state from July 1. In this, two employees will be on duty in every camp who will stay in the village and record the details like farmer’s name, father’s name, plot number, Aadhaar number, mobile number etc. Details of the crop sown in two sessions in every plot of the farmer will also be included.

A farmer number will be given after this, through this number only, the complete details of the concerned farmer can be seen. Camps have been set up in every village for registration till July 31. Direct benefits of schemes will be available through Kisan Card.

Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi said that in order to enable the farmers of the state to avail maximum benefits of schemes, this decision by the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been taken.

The aim of the iniative is to provide maximum benefits of schemes to the farmers. Through this Kisan number, the benefits of other schemes including PM Kisan Samman Nidhi will be given from December this year. If reports are to be believed UP is the first state in the country to make Kisan Card.

The registration process for the Kisan Card will be done in two phases, said Joint Director of Agriculture Department DK Singh. He said that six officers each from the Agriculture and Revenue Department have been made master trainers. Similarly, training has also been given at the district level. In the first phase, farmers will be registered by organizing camps in villages. The second phase will start from August 1. In this, farmers themselves will be able to get registered by going to their mobile app or Jan Suvidha Kendra.

At present, the farmers have to go through a tedious processes to avail loans, like revenue records and much of paperwork, after farmer registration, their complete details can be viewed by entering their number on the related app. This will simplify verification of beneficiaries, marketing of agricultural produce and other financial matters. Along with this, it will be easy to identify farmers for payment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, Kisan Credit Card for crop loan, crop insurance and compensation during disaster.

The Modi government, which believes in uplifting the standard of living of farmers and simplifying the farming techniques which also yield good produce, has underatken various steps for the farmers so that they could lead a good life as compared to the previous governments.
