Telangana: Abbas, an AIMIM leader, absconds after attacking Hindu youth for being in relation with a Muslim girl

Abbas Shami, an activist associated with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) and former deputy mayor, is on the run after allegedly orchestrating a brutal assault on a Hindu youth from the Scheduled Caste (SC-Dalit) communityfor being in a relationship with a Muslim girl, prompting Shami and his associates to carry out the attack

Abbas Shami, an AIMIM activist and former deputy mayor of Karimnagar town, has fled after he and his goons beat a Hindu youth (SC- Dalit) who was picked up from his friend’s house on charges that he was in a relationship with a Muslim girl. The Karimnagar police are looking for suspects in connection with this case, which was registered under Kothapalli Haveli Police Station limits on May 14.

According to local sources, some roadside Muslims near Rekurty, outside of Karimnagar town, identified a bike-riding couple, whom they identified as a Hindu boy and Muslim girl in a relationship, and followed them on their vehicles until they arrived at a friend’s home in Sheik Nagar.

They immediately alerted their community members and barged into the house, attacking the youngster and forcefully bringing them to Abbas Shami’s home for more punishment.

After learning about the issue, Abbas instructed that the girl be handed over to their parents, who arrived from Ramagundam. Abbas compelled the girl and her parents to beat the Hindu youth with slippers; if they did not, they threatened to kill him. The youngster was severely beaten, resulting in rib injuries, and when he became thirsty, they shouted at him, signalling him to drink urine.  He managed to get out of Abbas’ home, in critical condition, and reached his friend’s home, where he narrated the story.

Upon learning this harsh treatment, the boy and his friends complained at Kothapalli Haveli police station, leading to the registration of an SC/ST case against Abbas Shami, MD Sameer, resident of Shaik khan Nagar, Mohd Asif of Saleh Nagar, Yakub, president of AIMIM 18 division, Azeem of Islampura and others.

According to sources, three people have already been arrested by police in connection with this crime, and they are looking for the main suspect, Abbas, the former deputy mayor of Karimnagar.  Locals say Abbas has a criminal-like background and a history of targeting Hindu youths based on religious beliefs on multiple occasions.

Dr. Shashidhar, joint secretary of the Vishva Hindu Parishad in Telangana, told the Organiser, “These kinds of incidents show that Muslim leaders are training their community members to physically attack Hindu boys wherever or whoever they suspect of having a relationship with Muslim girls. ”

“In this case, the suspect Abbas is an AIMIM leader. If AIMIM were truly liberal in its chants, such as “Jai-Bheem Jai-Meem,” as claimed by its leader Asaddudin Owaisi, MP, his party member Abbas should humbly accept their friendship or love. However, history shows that Dalits are often the primary targets of these Muslims, suggesting that such slogans are merely a cover to conceal a larger conspiracy against the entire Hindu society.”

There are numerous cases where Muslims act as moral police, identifying interfaith relationships between Hindu boys and Muslim girls, and attacking them to harass and intimidate.

Recently, a Muslim mob harassed a Hindu youth who was married to a Muslim girl in Hyderabad.

In Mat 2022, Nagaraju, who married Ashrin Sulthana was murdered in broad daylight in Hyderabad.

Reacting to this murder, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi called it as “criminal act as per constitution & the worst crime as per Islam:

We condemn the (honour killing) incident that took place in Saroornagar. The woman willingly decided to get married. Her brother doesn’t have any right to kill her husband. Recalling the history Dr Shashdhar calls the AIMIM party to trace the absconding Abbas and hand him over to Karimnagar police for further investigation.

He argues that “When a Hindu girl is in a relationship with a Muslim man, there is often a call for societal acceptability, with supporters claiming that love transcends religious barriers and denying charges of love jihad. However, when both genders are reversed, with a Muslim girl and a Hindu male, the story changes radically. Suddenly, claims emerge that the connection is a premeditated trap designed to catch Muslim girls based on their religion. This double standard raises important questions about consistency and fairness in how interfaith relationships are perceived and treated. Why is there a demand for acceptance in one scenario but a rush to judgment and condemnation in the other?”
