UGC Chief Jagadesh Kumar has announced that there will be no normalisation of scores for the Common University Entrance Test or CUET UG 2024 and National Eligibility Test or NET 2024 this year. The announcement was made on April 22, 2024.

Informing about the decision, he shared, “No normalisation of scores will be required this year since both exams will be conducted in a single shift for a subject”. This step was taken after students raised concerns over the unfair normalisation of scores for CUET and NET, which negatively impacted their exam performance.

Following the changes announced by UGC, the CUET UG 2024 exam will now be held in pen and paper mode for 15 subjects and in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode for 48 subjects.

This year, the CUET UG 2024 exam will be held from May 15 to May 24, 2024, for admission to various UG courses in all participating colleges and universities in India, including central, government and private universities.

Informing about the changes in CUET UG 2024, NTA Director General Subodh Kumar Singh said, “This year, the CUET UG 2024 will be held in seven days and across 16 shifts. All the subjects will be in single shifts and therefore there will be no normalisation of the scores. All the candidates will have the same question paper, and thereby face the same difficulty level”.

Similarly, UGC NET 2024 will be held in pen and paper mode on June 16, 2024, for all registered candidates. The exam will be held to determine the eligibility of candidates for the “award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as an assistant professor”, “appointment as an assistant professor and admission to PhD”, and “admission to PhD only” in Indian universities.
