Israel minister Benny Gantz vowed on April 14, 2024, that the country would exact a price from Iran in response to its missile and drone attacks when the time is right. “We will build a regional coalition and exact price from Iran in the fashion and timing that is right for us,” Gantz said before the Israeli war cabinet convened to discuss the country’s response to Iranian attack.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amri Abdollah said on April 14, 2024, that Tehran had informed the US that its attacks on Israel would be limited and for self-defence. His remarks came hours after Western Nations condemned missile attack on Israel and called for de-escalation.

Iran launched over 300 missiles at Israel days after it warned the Jewish nation of retaliation over the April 1, 2024 attack on its embassy in Damascus. Israel, however, the claimed that it intercepted 99 percent of missiles launched by Iran which caused only minor damage at an airbase.

Israel’s centrist war cabinet minister Benny Gantz resorted to strong use of words saying the country will exact prices from Iran for its missile and drone attack. “We will build a coalition and exact prices from Iran in the timing that is right for us, Gantz said before the country’s war cabinet convened to discuss Israel’s response to the Iran’s attack.

Earlier, at a press conference, Iran’s foreign minister Hossein Amir Abdollah said that exercising the right of legitimate defence shows Iran’s responsible approach to regional and international peace and security. He said at this point, Iran had no intention of continuing defensive operations, but warned the Jewish nation that the Islamic Republic would not hesitate to protect its “legitimate interests against any new aggression.”

The Iranian ambassador to the United Nations, Saeid Iravani told the UNSC on April 14, 2024, that the Islamic Republic was exercising its inherent right to self-defence in its unprecedented attack on Israel. Iran also warned the US against helping Israel. In a televised address, the Iranian Army Chief Major General Mohammed Bagheri told the us that its bases could also be attacked if it helped Israel in retaliation.

Israel’s defence minister Yoav Gallant said despite the thwarting the attack the military campaign is not over and we must be prepared for every scenario. Israel is expected to launch a significant response to Iran’s aggression an unnamed official told an international news agency even as President Joe Biden cautioned Benjamin Netanyahu against retaliation.

Iran’s foreign ministry summoned the ambassadors of the United Kingdom, France and Germany to question what it referred to as the irresponsible stance regarding Tehran’s retaliatory strikes in Israel, the Iranian media reported. Unequivocally, condemning Iran’s direct attack on Israel the G-7 leaders on April 14, 2024, said the development risks provoking an uncontrollable regional escalation even as the UNSC decided to convene an emergency meeting to discuss the issue.

Indian airline company Air India said on April 14, 2024 that it was suspending all the flights headed to Tel Aviv in the wake of the looming threat of a heightened conflict in the region.  German Airline company Lufthansa, on the same day said it was suspending flights to Amman, Beirut, Erbil and Tel Aviv at least on April 15, 2024, following the latest turmoil in the Middle East.

Meanwhile the UAE based Etihad Airways cancelled services to Tel Aviv and Amman on April 14, 2024. Emirates Airlines also cancelled some flights and rerouted others due to temporary closures in the region from late evening of April 13, 2024. The US on the very next day said it will not join any Israel counterattack on Iran with President Joe Biden to think carefully about any escalation.
