Unidentified assailants in the United States of America (USA) killed an Indian student hailing from Andhra Pradesh Guntur District. The body of the 20-year-old Parachuri Abhijit, who was an engineering student studying in Boston University was in his car inside a forest and was left there by his killers. He was the only son of his parents Parachuri Chakradhar and Sri Lakshmi.

According to a report by an Indian media agency, Parachuri Abhijit was a bright student since his childhood. His mother initially did not want him to go abroad for higher studies and but later agreed keeping his future in mind, Abhijit’s parents told the media agency.  He used to stay with his classmates in a rented house. Noticing that Abhijit did not return home after finishing his classwork, his worried friends informed police and lodged a missing complaint.

It is believed that Abhijit was killed by unidentified thugs on the university campus and should have left his body in the forest and fled from the scene. The Police have launched an investigation to nab the accused.

The report also said that assailants may have killed Abhijit for his money and laptop. There are also questions being raised regarding his quarrel he had with fellow students in the university. The murder in the campus has raised many suspicious. His mortal remains were moved to Burripalem in Guntur District after completing all formalities in the US.

This is the ninth such incident where Indians and Indian origin Americans were killed in the United States of America (USA) in separate cases. Among the nine, two died due to suicide, two died of overdose, two died after going missing, one died in road accident and two were murdered.

There have been multiple cases of unnatural deaths of Indians in the US. On February 27, 2024, West Bengal’s Birbhum based Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi dancer Amarnath Ghosh died in the US. He died due to gunshot wounds. On January 23, 2024, an Indian student AkuL Dhawan froze to death after he was denied entry to a nightclub.

In 2023, an Indian student called Janhavi Kandula was killed after being hit by a patrol car driven by police officer Kevin Dave in Seattle. Other students which fell, prey to incidents like these included Sameer Kamath, a mechanical engineering student studying in Purdue University along with Vivek Saini, Shreyas Reddy, Vivek Taneja and Neel Acharya also from Purdue University.

An Indian origin family of four was found dead in their apartment in California in February 2024. The family members include Anand Sujith Henry, his wife Priyanka and their two children Noah and Neithan. San Mateo police confirmed the death of the family on February 13, 2024.
