Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organised a protest at the Arts Faculty, North Campus, Delhi University today on March 11, condemning the lathi charge and unjust detention by the West Bengal Police of ABVP National General Secretary and other activists in Siliguri. The protest at Delhi University saw a significant turnout of students, in support of the voice of dissent against the unjust arrest of ABVP National General Secretary  Yagywalkya Shukla along with 26 other activists, including three girls, in Siliguri.

ABVP strongly condemns the arbitrary and unjust detention of ABVP National General Secretary, Yagywalkya Shukla, and 20 other ABVP activists by the North Bengal police during the Uttarkanya Abhiyan in Siliguri. The peaceful protest, aimed at condemning the atrocities of torture and sexual abuse against women in Sandeshkhali, was forcibly disrupted by the police authorities, reflecting an unjust attempt to suppress students’ voices and silence legitimate concerns regarding injustice in West Bengal.

ABVP Activist and DUSU President Tushar Dedha stated, “ABVP stands firm in its commitment to upholding the rights of women and advocating for justice in the face of oppression. We demand the immediate release of ABVP National General Secretary, Shri Yagywalkya Shukla, and the other 26 activists who are unjustly restrained by the Police authority in Siliguri. ABVP demands that the West Bengal government address the pressing issues of violence and injustice plaguing the state and take stringent action to deter any future crimes in West Bengal.”
