In a captivating revelation, Arun Yogiraj, the accomplished sculptor from Mysuru behind the Ram Lalla murti at the newly constructed Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, shared images of the tools employed to carve the deity’s enchanting “divine eyes.” The exquisite eyes were meticulously crafted using a silver hammer and a golden chisel, according to Yogiraj.

The sculptor, who played a pivotal role in fashioning the 51-inch murti of Ram Lalla from shyam shila, a blue-black stone, posted the pictures on X along with a note expressing his sentiments. “Thought of sharing this silver hammer with the golden chisel using which I carved the divine eyes (Netronmilana) of Ram Lalla,” Yogiraj shared.

The unveiling of the murti’s eyes on January 22 left devotees spellbound with its divine allure. The idol, portraying Bhagwan Ram in his child form with a bow and arrow, was ceremoniously installed at the Ayodhya temple on January 18, preceding the Pran Pratishtha ceremony held on January 22.

Following the grand event, Arun Yogiraj expressed profound gratitude, deeming himself the “luckiest person on earth” and likening the experience to “living a dream.” Yogiraj remarked that he felt he was merely following Bhagwan Ram’s guidance while sculpting the murti.

Arun Yogiraj was one of the three distinguished sculptors chosen by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra to carve the murti of ‘Ram Lalla.’ The craftsmanship demonstrated in the divine eyes reflects the meticulous attention to detail and the reverence with which the sculptor approached his sacred task.

The sharing of these behind-the-scenes glimpses not only offers insights into the artistic process but also adds a personal touch to the spiritual creation. The silver hammer and golden chisel, now immortalised through these images, become symbolic tools that played a role in manifesting the divine essence of Ram Lalla, as envisioned by the master sculptor Arun Yogiraj.
