The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) presented a memorandum to the UGC Chairman, advocating for clear guidelines on scholarships for pharmacy students enrolled in university-affiliated colleges following their success in the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT).
ABVP highlighted the disparity between pharmacy students in university departments who receive scholarships and those in affiliated colleges who do not. They emphasised the need for swift action to rectify this discrepancy, particularly given the anticipation of over 8000 students enrolled in affiliated colleges for the promised scholarship of Rs. 12,500.
The memorandum outlined three key demands:
- Prompt resolution of scholarship issues for pharmacy students in affiliated colleges.
- Extension of the registration form deadline by one month for better student comprehension.
- Provision of clear and concise guidelines, including a flow chart, to streamline the scholarship application and registration process.
ABVP National General Secretary, Shri Yagywalkya Shukla, stressed the importance of fulfilling the promised scholarships for pharmacy students in affiliated colleges, urging the UGC to address the matter promptly.
