In a disturbing incident of love jihad, a case has come to light in Mandya district, Karnataka, where a Muslim individual allegedly deceived a minor girl by changing his identity and later fled with her. The accused has been identified as 19-year-old Sayyad Tabrez.
As per reports, both the accused and the victim belong to the same locality. Tabrez had been in a relationship with the minor for an extended period, and on January 12, he eloped with her. Upon learning of the incident, the girl’s parents lodged a complaint against Tabrez under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Following the registration of the case, the police administration initiated an investigation. The girl was later found and handed over to her parents after being examined.
According to police, the accused 19-year-old Syed Tabrez had eloped with a minor girl belonging to the Hindu community on January 12. Both are residents of K.R. Pet town.
In the wake of the incident, Hindu organisations protested, accusing the accused of promoting love jihad and demanded a NIAs investigation agency to take over the case.
It is noteworthy that Karnataka has seen a rise in moral policing incidents by certain extremist Islamic groups following the Congress government’s tenure. These groups have been involved in criminal activities under the guise of moral policing. Recently, in Karnataka, extremist Islamists gang-raped a girl from their own community solely because she was conversing with a Hindu boy.
