Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a large gathering of women at a mega assembly in Thrissur on January 3, 2024. During his speech, the Prime Minister individually highlighted the achievements of his Government, emphasising each scheme by affirming ‘it’s Modi’s guarantee’ in Malayalam. As he eloquently narrated the accomplishments in the local language, it sparked enthusiasm and jubilation among the massive crowd of around two lakhs at the Mahila Samgamam. The event, named “Sthreeshakthi Modikkoppam” (Woman Power with Modi), witnessed the Prime Minister initiating his address by greeting the audience as ‘Mothers and sisters’ in Malayalam.

The PM criticised both the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the opposition United Democratic Front (UDF), stating that for many years, they have disappointed the people of the State. Accusing them of engaging in corruption and perpetuating dynastic politics, he highlighted their collaboration within the I.N.D.I front, emphasizing their similarity in actions. He condemned this front for undermining religious beliefs and obstructing rituals. Additionally, the PM sharply criticised the LDF administration, referencing the notorious gold smuggling case, insinuating that the public is aware of the individuals responsible and their affiliations with specific offices.

He mentioned the ongoing rent dispute linked to the Thrissur Pooram matter, highlighting its politicization. Recently, the Kochi Dewaswom Board (KDB) and the Pooram Committees of the main participating temples clashed over increased land rent for the esteemed Pooram Exhibition associated with the Thrissur Pooram. Criticizing the government’s management, he expressed dissatisfaction with their handling of the Sabarimala issue, citing that festivals have become commercial commodities in their view.
