In a shocking incident of love jihad in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly, a man named Shehzad Baig posed as a Hindu to befriend a minor girl, later engaging her in a romantic relationship. Subsequently, on December 21, he abducted her and subjected her to repeated sexual assaults during a ten-day captivity.

The perpetrator, Shehzad Baig, reportedly sold the victim to his friend for a paltry sum of Rs 10 thousand. The victim was rescued by authorities on December 31, and an individual named Anish has been apprehended. However, the police are actively searching for the other main accused in the case.

The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Bithri Chainpur police station. The family of the girl has accused the police of negligence in handling the matter. Despite the family filing a case, the police assured them that the remaining perpetrators would be apprehended soon. Authorities are conducting persistent raids at suspected locations to locate and detain the outstanding accused.

Circle Officer (CO)-3 Anita Chauhan disclosed that the family had reported the girl missing simultaneously, leading to her rescue and the arrest of one of the offenders. A comprehensive investigation into the matter is currently underway.

The girl’s brother raised concerns about the police’s initial response to her disappearance, accusing them of carelessness and failure to open a case promptly. Seeking assistance from Hindu organisations, including Karni Sena, he applied pressure on the police. Subsequently, the missing girl was located and returned to her family.

The brother revealed that a group of individuals had abducted his sister after deceiving her on the fateful day. He expressed dissatisfaction with the police’s initial handling of the case, alleging negligence and extortion attempts by the police station in charge, Manoj.

Hindu groups have voiced their discontent with the police’s attitude and demanded disciplinary action against the relevant personnel. Additionally, they have issued warnings of staging a protest at the police station if corrective measures are not promptly implemented.

The victim’s father filed a First Information Report (FIR) based on information provided by the police, who claimed that they initiated the inquiry only after the case was officially filed. The ongoing investigation aims to unveil the full details of the love jihad case and bring all involved perpetrators to justice.
