The temple is poised to become a focal point for the Hindu community in the United Arab Emirates, fostering a sense of belonging and promoting interfaith understanding. Prime Minister Modi’s acceptance of the invitation underscores the importance of fostering global understanding and collaboration through cultural and spiritual initiatives. The inauguration ceremony on February 14, 2024, is expected to be a momentous occasion, drawing dignitaries, religious leaders, and community members from various backgrounds.

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accepted an invitation to inaugurate the BAPS Hindu Mandir. The announcement was made in a press statement by BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha following a meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Swami Ishwarcharandas, along with Swami Brahmaviharidas and the board of directors.

During the meeting held on Wednesday (December 27) at the Prime Minister’s residential office, Prime Minister Modi graciously accepted the invitation, expressing his enthusiastic support for the construction of the temple, which is expected to become an iconic symbol. Swami Ishwarcharandas honoured the Prime Minister by adorning him with a garland and draping a saffron shawl over his shoulders, recognising Modi’s significant contributions to India and the world.

The discussions during the meeting centred around the global significance of the Abu Dhabi temple for fostering harmony, and Prime Minister Modi’s vision for positioning India as a spiritual leader on the global stage. The press statement highlighted Modi’s extraordinary achievements, particularly the renovation and development of pilgrimage sites across India, a feat unparalleled in recent centuries.

Recalling memories of Pramukh Swami Maharaj and his centenary celebrations, Prime Minister Modi expressed prayers for Mahant Swami Maharaj’s health. He appreciated the efforts of individuals, volunteers, and supporters involved in the BAPS Hindu Mandir project in Abu Dhabi, singling out Chairman Ashok Kotecha, Vice Chairman Yogesh Mehta, and Director Chirag Patel for their significant contributions.

Swami Brahmaviharidas provided an update on the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, emphasising its intricate carvings and all-inclusive grandeur. Prime Minister Modi remarked that the inauguration ceremony would be a significant event, symbolising the ideals of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — a spiritual space that transcends beliefs and traditions, representing a confluence of diverse cultures and civilizations.

“It will reflect the ideal of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – an ideal spiritual space, not merely rooted in beliefs and traditions, but a confluence of diverse cultures and civilizations. The essence of spiritual harmony, symbolising the path forward,” remarked Prime Minister Modi.
