The culmination of years of anticipation, legal battles, and the landmark Supreme Court verdict in November 2019, the construction of the temple achieved a significant milestone with the laying of the foundation stone in August 2020.

The highly awaited inauguration, scheduled to commence after Makar Sankranti on January 14, will be graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The 10-day celebration will witness the presence of numerous VVIPs and celebrities, making it a momentous occasion filled with festivities and religious fervour.

The Sri Rama Janmabhoomi Tirth Kshetra Trust is orchestrating extensive arrangements for the grand celebration, encompassing not only the physical inauguration in Ayodhya but also a global commemoration by Hindu Americans, particularly in the United States.

In an extraordinary display of solidarity, Indo-Americans plan to illuminate their homes with the light of tradition by lighting five diyas. This symbolic gesture aims to express their joy and reverence for the realisation of a dream they never thought would come true in their lifetime. Bharat Barai from Chicago, one of the privileged invitees to the Ayodhya ceremony on January 22, articulated the profound significance of this moment.

To extend the celebration beyond physical boundaries, the VHPA (Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America) has outlined plans for car rallies in various U.S. cities, live broadcasts of the temple opening ceremony from Ayodhya, and community meetings. Massive screens will be erected for live streaming of the festivities, ensuring that Hindu Americans can actively participate in the consecration of the temple.

The VHPA’s call for Hindu Americans to illuminate at least five lamps in their homes resonates with a collective sentiment of joy and participation in this historic event. As the grand inauguration approaches, the Indo-American community stands united in illuminating the symbolic lamps of tradition, culture, and faith to honour the consecration of Sri Ram Mandir.

The grand celebration is not confined to the physical boundaries of Ayodhya; it is a global event that unites the Indian diaspora, especially those in the United States, in celebrating the fulfilment of a cherished dream. The lighting of diyas symbolises not just the triumph of faith but also the spirit of unity among Hindus worldwide.

As the date of the inauguration draws near, the excitement and enthusiasm within the Hindu American community continue to grow, reflecting the deep cultural and emotional connection they maintain with the sacred site of Ayodhya. The grandeur of the celebrations both in Ayodhya and across the globe underscores the historic significance of Sri Ram Mandir and its resonance with Hindus worldwide. The lighting of diyas by Indo-Americans symbolises a shared joy and an expression of gratitude for witnessing the realisation of a cultural and religious aspiration.
