A disturbing incident involving a Muslim man was captured on camera, showing him entering a Hindu temple and urinating in close proximity to the Shiv Ling inside. The incident occurred in Kandar village, Murshidabad, and a video of the act has circulated widely on the internet, eliciting strong public condemnation. The police have taken swift action, apprehending the accused, who has been identified as Ara Sheikh, the son of Ratan Sheikh.

According to media reports, this regrettable incident transpired in the Salar Block of Murshidabad district in West Bengal, on October 31, 2023.

In the initial frames of the viral video, the accused can be observed engaged in a heated exchange with another individual. He then proceeds to walk across the temple grounds and approaches the idol. In the background, several onlookers can be heard shouting and attempting to deter him from committing the offensive and disrespectful act. Despite their efforts, the accused persists, unzipping his pants and urinating inside the temple.

The dissemination of this disgraceful act on video ignited a widespread uproar on the internet, prompting extensive indignation from the Hindu community. They have called for stringent measures to be taken against the perpetrator, asserting that his actions have deeply wounded their religious sentiments.

According to media reports, a police officer from the Salar police station has verified the arrest of the accused. They acknowledged that a video capturing the incident was recorded and subsequently circulated widely on the internet. Additionally, they disclosed that the accused, Ara Sheikh, has been receiving treatment for mental health issues since 2017, indicating his condition as a contributing factor to his actions. The media outlet has also provided purported medical records of Ara Sheikh, along with a recorded phone conversation with local law enforcement confirming his apprehension.
