Videos of a naked minor girl with her private parts bleeding crying for help went viral on social media from Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district. The minor was raped, but what was even more shocking was the silence and refusal by the locals for help which shook everyone. Soon after the minor was admitted to the hospital, police swung in action and nabbed an accused identified as Bharat Soni. All those who read and heard about the case wanted stringent punishment for the culprit.

And here we are, on October 4, news of a bulldozer drive taking place and razing the house of the accused made headlines. As per the reports, a team from the municipal corporation arrived with a bulldozer and immediately demolished the illegal construction of the accused upon inspection in the presence of the police.

Bharat, an auto-rickshaw driver, was apprehended in Ujjain for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl who had recently arrived in the city from Satna district, Madhya Pradesh.

Bulldozer drive

The accused’s family had already begun relocating their possessions before the demolition. Notably, they had unlawfully occupied the property for two decades.

During the demolition operation, a significant crowd had gathered, prompting the police and administration to be fully prepared to maintain order. The Tehsildar and Patwari were also on-site during the bulldozing.

Municipal Commissioner Roshan Singh said that the land belongs to the government and therefore no notice is needed for its demolition. The municipal body will take action tomorrow in collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh police. Bharat was caught after a long investigation that involved reviewing footage from nearly 700 CCTV cameras.

The residence in question was situated in the Nanakheda area. At the time of the operation, the accused’s parents were present. One of the accused’s deceased brothers had a criminal record, while another sibling operated a nearby tea shop.

Death penalty for accused

Speaking to media, Raju Soni, the father of the accused, called for severe punishment for those found guilty of such heinous acts.

Raju Soni stated, “If my child had been in the victim’s place, I would have said the same thing. Those who commit such crimes do not deserve to live. Whether it’s my child or anyone else’s, anyone who commits such a crime should be hanged or shot.”

Police are reportedly working towards securing a conviction for Bharat Soni within the next month in connection to this case.

Shocking incident

On September 26, videos of the shocking incident went viral on social media. It showed a minor girl in torn clothes, bleeding, and begging for help. A CCTV camera on Badnagar Road, about 15 km from Ujjain, captured the girl, draped in rags, going door-to-door, seeking help but is shunned away. The chilling footage, sent shockwaves across the country as she approached the locals one after the other but no one came for help.

The minor girl wandered on streets for hours when she received help from a samaritan. Word of her agony reached an ashram not far from her location. A priest there, sensing that she had been sexually assaulted, draped her in a towel and rushed her to the nearby hospital. The medical examination confirmed the fears: she had been raped.

The girl’s injuries were severe, so she was rushed to Indore for specialised medical care. Police officers volunteered to donate blood when she needed it.

The accused, Bharat, was arrested three days later. The accused attempted to flee while reenacting the crime scene to collect evidence, including torn clothing but was swiftly caught.

“We reached the spot to recover the clothes worn by the girl. Sensing an opportunity, Bharat Soni tried to escape. Police personnel chased and caught him. During this, he fell on a cemented road, injuring his arms and legs,” the police said.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said,”The victim is the daughter of Madhya Pradesh. We will take care of her in every way. She is my daughter, as well as the state’s daughter and we will ensure that the accused gets stringent punishment,” he declared.
