Launching a series of attacks at the Bhupesh Baghel-led Congress government of Chhattisgarh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson Sambit Patra has said that the Congress party is walking side by side with the Maoist (Naxal) in Chhattisgarh.

Patra’s remarks came a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a gathering in Bhopal of Madhya Pradesh, accused the grand old party of being run by an outsider. While addressing the Karyakarta Mahakumbh on Monday the prime minister said that the Congress party is being run by a few ‘Urban Naxals’.

Taking the attack forward, the BJP spokesperson in a press conference at BJP headquarters in New Delhi on Tuesday, September 26, while highlighting a 104-page document (Aarop-Patra), said that the Chhattisgarh state government has pushed for the Maoist cause.

“If you remember how the union government has worked tirelessly towards the eradication of Naxalism whose figures had already been shared by the union home minister in the parliament as well as in his press briefing, but sadly the Chhattisgarh state government in the state has pushed up the Maoist which has led to the killings of the BJP functionaries”, said Patra.

Further while slamming the Congress government, the BJP spokesperson from Odisha said that “the last time when Rahul Gandhi had visited the state, he and the Congress party had vowed for a hundred percent prohibition on liquor, though the promise was never fulfilled. However, in the name of liquor distribution, duplicate liquor distribution and doorstep distribution a liquor scam worth Rs 2161 crore has flourished under the Congress government.”

“The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders had also held a press conference over the liquor scam that flourished in the state and had demanded the arrest of Bhupesh Baghel. You see when the biggest mafia is saying that he is a don then one can understand how bigger he is”, added Patra.

The BJP spokesperson further said that “the real face of the Congress party is horrific as Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party have failed to deliver on as many as 316 poll promises. The prime minister started the Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna for the farmers and hundreds of thousands of farmers have registered with it but the Congress government has failed to complete the verification of these farmers which ultimately deprived them from getting Rs 6000 annually.”

“One thing that you are all going to believe that the Public Distribution System (PDS) of Chhattisgarh under the fifteen years of rule of the BJP had garnered attention across the nation, however a whopping Rs 600 crore scam has unearthed in the PDS as well which is documented in the CAG report”, added further, Patra

Further lambasting the Bhupesh led government on alleged Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) scam the BJP spokesperson quoted that ” including the son of CGPSC Chairman Taman Sonwani, many relatives of Congress leaders are sitting as government officials. Not only that, a whopping Rs 5000 crore scam has flourished through online betting apps which has affected around 50 lakhs people, concluded,Sambit Patra.

Allegation of multi-crore scams on Chhattisgarh government

It is to be noted that the incumbent Congress government of Chhattisgarh has been on the receiving end lately, after the main opposition BJP has alleged that the ruling government was involved in a wide array of multi-crore scams that flourished under the Bhupesh Baghel led government.

The saffron party in recent months has gone all guns blazing at the grand old party alleging that scams worth crores have flourished right under the nose of the Congress government in Liquor sale, through coal extortion and PSD. The party in recent times had also hit the streets against the flagship Gaothan scheme of the government alleging wide scale irregularities.

Further the state BJP leadership has also been continuously accusing the CGPSC Chairman Taman Sonwani for wide scale irregularities and Nepotism in the CGPSC examination 2021. The matter escalated further when former minister and senior BJP leader, Nanhki Ram Kanwar filed a petition in the high court demanding investigation of as many as 18 candidates who made a cut in the top-20 list.

Hearing on his petition the high court while expressing its disappointment over the matter has stayed the appointments of as many as 13 candidates who are found to be close relatives of PSC chairman, other officials and a few Congress leaders.

It is to be noted that earlier the Enforcement Directorate (ED) claimed that it has unearthed a
Rs 2000 crore liquor scam that flourished right under the nose of the incumbent Congress government. According to the findings of the agency, a Rs 2000 crore liquor scam in the state being operated by a cartel composed of bureaucrats, private liquor suppliers, government officials and persons with heavy political backing flourished in the state with Anwar Dhebar as its kingpin.

The ED investigation in the case has so far revealed that one company namely M/s Prizm Holography Security Films Private Limited based at Noida, was illegally granted a tender to supply Holograms to the Excise department of Chhattisgarh. The company was not eligible to participate in the tender process, but in connivance with the company’s owner the senior officials of the state of Chhattisgarh namely Arun Pati Tripathi ITS (Special Secretary Excise), Niranjan Das (Excise Commissioner), Anil Tuteja IAS modified the tender condition and illegally allotted the tender to the M/s Prizm Holography Security Films Private Limited Noida.

Earlier on May 6 ED had arrested Anwar Dhebar, brother of the senior Congress leader and Raipur Mayor Ezaj Dhebhar and claimed that Anwar was the main kingpin on the ground in which around Rs 2000 crore was illegally generated by the criminal syndicate. Other than Anwar, ED had also arrested hotel promoter Nitish Purohit and liquor trader Triloki Singh Dhillon alias Pappu Dhillon

The economic intelligence agency of the central government has so far also attached 119 immovable assets worth Rs 121.87 crore alongside seizing a total assets of approximately Rs 180 crore so far in the alleged scam.

Political violence by the Maoist

It is pertinent to mention here that apart from the multi crore scams, the saffron party in Chhattisgarh has also been accusing the Baghel led government for going soft on the Maoist. The party in recent months has gone on lengths to lodge a strong opposition against the ruling Congress government after the Maoist killed as many as three of its workers including the incumbent district vice president of Narayanpur and block president of Usur in Bijapur.

The Maoist in recent years have also dropped pamphlets issuing severe warnings for dire consequences for those who opted to work for the saffron party in the tribal dominated Chhattisgarh.
