The film ‘Kerala Story’ released in May 2023 featured different patterns and tactics used by Islamists to lure Hindu girls to Islam and ultimately make them a part of radical terror groups. Organiser has been reporting cases around these tactics and has exposed them all. In this report, we will take our readers through one such story from the Bhopal district of Madhya Pradesh.
Here a Dalit woman has registered a complaint against one Anam Sheikh for forcing her to follow Islamic religious practices. Those include wearing Hijab and covering the head during Azan. She also accused one of Anam’s relatives, Hamid Miyan of assaulting her.
The Madhya Pradesh police have booked both the accused under sections of the MP Freedom of Religion Act, SC-ST Act and other relevant charges.
What does the FIR say?
A First Information Report (number–236/2023) was registered at the Mahila police station of the Bhopal district on August 4 by the victim Munni Dongre daughter of late Sovind Dongre.
In her statement to the police, Munni said, she is a native of Mukam Post pf Lawani area in Balaghat district. She is a first-year student at the Patropadhi College for Animal Husbandry and has been studying there for the last six months.
As she moved from Balaghat to Bhopal, she started looking for rooms and hostels. There she came in touch with Anam Shikeh, she discussed with her that she is looking for a room. Anam offered to stay with her, but Munni refused and said she would rather look for a hostel. Later, Anam persuaded her to stay in her place.
As Anam lived alone in Nariyalkheda, Pipal Square, Munni agreed to stay with her.
She further added, at first things were good, but later she started luring her towards Islam and asking her to follow Islamic practices. She started by asking Munni to wear a hijab, then said, “You should rub your hands on your head during Azan”. When Munni became reluctant to these practices, she said, this is culture, and Hindus and Muslims are like brothers and sisters, there is no wrong in doing this.
Initially, she allowed Munni to follow Hindu religious practices including worshipping idols but as she refused to follow Islamic practices, Anam said, these things cannot go in her place. She told Munni, “You belong to a low caste and you are not a Hindu, to get respect in society, you should accept Islam and get a chance to touch Quran”.
Munni also accused her of speaking crudely about things and has recorded a video of it as well.
She disclosed that Hamid Mian used to visit the place frequently. He used to arrive at about 8 p.m. and stay until about 11 p.m. She unveiled, “I used to go to bed early since I had an exam on 10 July. I used to feel someone touching my body after I fell asleep. When I awoke unexpectedly, they two were seated by my side. They would chastise me if I questioned them. She used to say he is like my brother.”
She expressed her desire to leave there and recounted, “They threatened me that they wouldn’t let me stay there and send me back to where I came from. They bolted the door and locked the room after numerous pleas from me. I informed my mother over the phone about my circumstance and requested her to ask my brother to take me away from this house.”
She added, “She snatched my phone as well. Nevertheless, until that time, my mother had sent my brother to the location I had provided. She even refused to let me go with the latter. My brother then went to the Gautam Nagar police station to get assistance. She was yelling at me while strangling me. The cops arrived in the meantime and brought me to the station and sent me home with him.”
As Munni had her examinations going on hence she registered the complaint against Anam on August 3.
Organiser tried calling the victim, but her phone was out of reach. We will update this report once we get in touch with her.
Following the complaint, the accused have been booked under IPC sections 354 (assault), 342 (wrongful confinement), 34 (act done by several persons with common intention), sections 3 / 5 of the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, and sections 3(1)(w)(i) and 3(2)va of the Prevention of atrocities or the SC-ST Act.
The Gwalior Story
In May 2023, Organiser reported a case from Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior where a Marathi Hindu family was struggling to get their daughter back, who had been radicalised by a Muslim friend.
The family told Organiser that their daughter Arti was tarped in fake love by Mohammad Aman Shah via her friend Shabana. Shabana taught Arti also Islamic practices like wearing Hijab, offering Namaz and others.
On the other hand, Aman posed as a Hindu but turned out to be a Muslim. He blackmailed her, forced her to sleep with his friends in exchange for money, thrashed her on the road, tried kidnapping her, extorted money, forced her to convert and whatnot?
Shockingly, Arti was radicalised to an extent that she wanted to withdraw her complaint against Aman.
Arti’s mother while speaking with this correspondent said, “Mam you know what these Muslims do to our girls, Arti should be happy that he is now in jail and that he will not be able to spoil someone else’s life. We don’t want our daughter to be chopped into 36 pieces”.
The Firozabad Story
In a similar case from Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh a Hindu woman shared her ordeal in front of the media where she claimed one of her Muslim friends groomed her. Then she met his brother, they started talking, soon they eloped and had conversion nikah. After it, he started using her as a commodity, she was presented before his friends as a gift and was exploited mentally as well as physically.
The Bhopal Story
In May 2023, Organiser reported a case from Bhopal’s Berasiya area where the son of a Jain family became a member of an Islamic radical group Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT). He converted to Islam and changed his name from Sourabh Jain to Mohammad Saleem Jain, also got his wife converted to Islam, and his children were circumcised.
His father Dr Ashok Kumar Jain told Organiser that, he was radicalised after watching videos of banned Islamic preacher Zakir Naik. Sourabh used to tell his father that he should also convert to Islam or he will burn in Jahnnum.
After Sourabh converted to Islam, his family cut all ties with him. As of now, he is under arrest and has been booked under charges of NSA with the Freedom of Religion Act. Sourabh and other members of HuT were arrested by the Madhya Pradesh Anti Terrorism Squad.
The HuT is a radical Islamic group banned in 16 nations, including China, Germany, Russia, Bangladesh and Turkey. The outfit’s aim is the re-establishment of the Islamic caliphate to unite Muslims and implement the Sharia globally.
Out of the sixteen arrested accused, five of the accused were converted from Hinduism to Islam, including Mohammad Salim (earlier Saurabh Raj Vaidya (Jain)), Abdur Rehman (earlier Devi Narayan Panda) and Mohammad Abbas Ali (earlier Benu Kumar). Five of the accused had married Hindu girls, with two of these men having converted to Islam only a few years ago.
