Legendary Cricketer Virender Sehwag has come forward to lent a helping hand to children who lost their family members in the Odisha train tragedy.

Virender Sehwag has announced that the children will be given free education at his school for free, with the boarding facility.

“This image will haunt us for a long time. In this hour of grief, the least I can do is to take care of education of children of those who lost their life in this tragic accident. I offer such children free education at Sehwag International School’s boarding facility,” Sehwag wrote on Twitter.

“Also salute all the brave men and women who have been at the forefront of the rescue operations and the medical team and volunteers who have been voluntarily donating blood. We are together in this,” he added.

The Odisha train crash happened near the Bahanaga Baazar station in Balasore district, about 250 km south of Kolkata and 170 km north of Bhubaneswar, around 7 pm on June 9, prompting the Railway Ministry to order a probe.

Several coaches of the 12864 Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, on the way to Howrah, derailed and fell on adjacent tracks, an official said.

On June 3, PM Modi said that the guilty would be punished for their wrongdoing. “It’s a painful incident. The government will leave no stone unturned for the treatment of those injured. It’s a serious incident, and instructions have been issued for probe from every angle. Those found guilty will be punished stringently. Railway is working towards track restoration. I met the injured victims,” he said.

Earlier, Industrialist Gautam Adani on June 4 announced that the Adani Group will take the responsibility of school education of children who have lost their parents in the tragic Odisha train accident.

He also said it is the joint responsibility of “all of us to provide strength to the victims and their families and better tomorrow to the children”.

“The way this accident happened, looking at the conditions, and according to the administrative information. The Railway Board is recommending the probe to the CBI,” Vaishnaw said.
