On June 2, the Prime Minister of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ arrived Madhya Pradesh in his two-day visit to the state. The Chief Minister of the state Shivraj Singh Chouhan met Prachanda, at the airport for the very first time.

He was welcomed by CM Chouhan at Devi Ahilya International Airport in Indore. Folk artists of Madhya Pradesh welcomed the PM of Nepal with various cultural presentations including Gangaur and Sahariya dance.

From the airport, the PM visited Ujjain, Mahakaleshwar temple. On his arrival in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangu Bhai Patel welcomed Prime Minister Dahal and delegates of Nepal. At the temple, he was seen interacting with the temple saints and people present there to welcome him.

Notably, the PM of Nepal has visited the state for the first time. At the airport, Chouhan was seen sporting a traditional Nepali cap.

News Agency PTI reported, a group of artists also performed traditional dance at the airport in honour of the guests from Nepal.  Meanwhile, members of the local Nepalese community raised the slogans of “Jai Mahakali” by holding the flags of India and Nepal to welcome them.

Chief Minister Chouhan said, “India and Nepal are ancient and great nations. Many a time they feel like two bodies with one culture and civilisation,” as quoted by the news agency ANI.

Chouhan further said, “The relations of the two nations get enhanced and the cooperation is further enhanced, I believe that solid steps will be taken in this direction with his visit.”

Ujjain has been attractively decorated. According to Ujjain Superintendent of Police Sachin Sharma, 1000 police personnel have been deployed. Apart from this, changes have also been made in the traffic of different areas of the city.

In view of the security arrangements for the Prime Minister of Nepal and other guests, Mahakal Lok was closed for devotees till 1:30 pm today. Significantly, on October 11, 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Mahakal Lok in Ujjain.

Prachanda who assumed office in December last year is on an official visit to India from May 31 to June 3. This is his fourth visit to India.

He participated in the India-Nepal Business Summit on June 1 which concluded successfully, marking a significant milestone in strengthening economic cooperation and deepening bilateral relations between the two neighbouring nations, informed the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) through an official release on June 1.

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Dahal ‘Prachanda’ held bilateral talks at Hyderabad House on June 1 .

“Deepening the bonds of friendship and cooperation. PM @narendramodi greets PM @cmprachanda of Nepal as the latter arrives in Hyderabad House for bilateral talks,” Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted when PM Modi greeted ‘Prachanda’ at the Hyderabad House.
