An idol of Hanuman and a Shivling kept at a temple in Jharkhand’s Bokaro were allegedly vandalised by unidentified miscreants in Kasiya Tand area of Bokaro, Jharkhand, police said.
An idol of Hanuman was damaged and taken out of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, while a Shivling was also found destroyed.
Police reached the spot upon receiving information and launched an investigation.
The Shivling and the idol installed in the temple have been thrashed with a big stone. The trishul installed in the
Shiva temple has also been damaged. This area is completely deserted; people say that the area is a den of drug addicts.
The villagers have demanded strict action against the miscreants. The villagers have also expressed anger in front of the police force.
A dog squad was also present at the temple premises. Further investigation underway.
Earlier, last year in Dhanbad district of the state, a Hanuman temple had been vandalised in Kubritand of Jamdiha panchayat area of Govindpur police station area. Along with the idol of Hanuman, the Shivling was also found broken.
