On April 8, 2023, an idol of Hanuman was vandalised in Damoh in Madhya Pradesh by some miscreants.
The residents have termed this act as a conspiracy to hurt the religious sentiments. A complaint has been lodged with the police and a subsequent investigation is underway.

According to reports, the incident took place in the Patera area of Damoh. A public temple has been built on the farm of Sanjay Paliwal, a resident of Pipariya Sahni Village, the people in surrounding villages have faith in this temple.

The idol of Hanuman is installed in this temple along with other deities. On April 8, 2023, when a local resident, Ram Kishore Rajput of the village went to worship in the temple, he found it to be in a broken condition.
Soon, the news spread all over the town. The people began expressing their anger over this incident. When the matter was reported to the police, they reached the same spot too.

After this incident, anger and tension prevailed among the villagers. The police tried to calm the protestors, but the villagers are searching for the accused and demanded strict punishment for him. A tribal man living near the temple confirmed that there was some movement in the temple at night.

The miscreant vandalised the idol of Hanuman in the face. The police have launched an investigation and has said that the accused will be arrested soon.

Earlier, in January this year, unidentified miscreants vandalised the idols at a Hanuman temple in Pipaljhopa in the Bhagwanpura police station area, about 40 km from Khargone district headquarters.
