Amid rising speculations that police had nabbed the Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh and are not revealing it in the media on March 18, the state government finally told the court that Amritpal was not in their custody. So where is Amritpal now?

Recently, in a CCTV footage released by the police, the radical Khalistani leader can be seen riding a motorcycle with twisted looks. Rather than his casual white robes and blue turban, Amritpal in this clip can be seen wearing a shirt, sunglasses and pink turban.

Earlier Amritpal was seen escaping in a white SUV whose visuals are making rounds of the internet. Now the IGP Sukhchain Singh Gill as quoted by ANI said, “We are hopeful that we will arrest him soon. It is difficult to say that. Punjab police is receiving help from other state police and central agencies”.

“In the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that he went to the Gurudwara Sahib in Nangal Ambian where Amritpal changed his clothes and they escaped on two motorcycles. Teams are investigating and further investigations are underway” added the IGP.

ANI reported, “Locals of a Jalandhar village claim Khalistan sympathiser Amritpal Singh’s presence in their village on March 18. CCTV video sourced from local villagers in Jalandhar. Punjab police have not officially confirmed this”.

He said, so far 154 people have been arrested and taken into custody by the police.

Notably, Amritpal in an interview with television said, “There is nothing to fear about the arrest. I’m not afraid of being arrested or even killed. If that was my concern, you know I wouldn’t be here where I am right now,”

Amritpal who made loud proclamations on how he does not fear arrests is running and changing clothes like a coward. On March 21, the Punjab police shared seven pictures of the radial leader stating he may keep changing his looks to make his run safe.

Earlier the Punajba and Haryana courts rebuked the Punjab government as Amritpal managed to escape despite having a ‘well-planned operation’ saying it is an ‘intelligence failure’.

The court observed, “You have 80,000 cops. How could Amritpal escape despite a well-planned operation and huge force to support the operation”.

The Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on March 21 said, “Punjab’s peace and harmony, and the country’s progress our priority. We will not spare any force working against the country”.
