Uttar Pradesh: Saqlain threatens to kill minor girl if she did not convert & marry him, victims’ mother writes to CM

A minor girl from class 9 has alleged that Mohammad Saqlain is pressurising her to convert and threatening to kill her if she does not marry him. The victim’s mother wrote to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for help

Kannauj: On March 10, UttarPradesh.org News reported an incident about a minor girl allegedly receiving death threats to convert and get married to Mohammad Saqlain came to light.

The victim is a minor and a class 9 student. She has alleged that Saqlain is pressuring her for conversion and marriage with him. Furthermore, she has alleged that Saqlain is threatening to kill her if she refuses to marry him.

On March 10, UttarPradesh.org News (@WeUttarPradesh) tweeted, “#Kannauj: A Muslim youth is pressurising a class 9 student to convert and marriage, the victim alleged that he threatened to throw acid at her and kill her when she complained, victim’s family wrote a letter to the CM, the accused molests the victim when she goes to college, Chhibramau Police Station case,” along with a video interviewing the victim.

Reportedly, the victim’s mother wrote to Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath, wherein she alleged that Saqlain was stalking, molesting, and threatening her minor daughter for marriage. The victim’s mother also claimed that she complained about Saqlain’s actions to his family; however, instead of stopping Saqlain’s activities, his family members confronted the victim’s mother and asked what the problem was with the victim marrying Saqlain.

Furthermore, the victim alleged that Saqlain threatened to throw acid at her and kill her if she did not marry him after he found when he found out about the complaint.

Kannauj Police (@kannaujpolice) tweeted a statement from the Kannauj Police’s Superintendent of Police (SP), Kunwar Anupam Singh, who said they are investigating the incident based on the victim’s complaint.

He also revealed that a complaint was lodged against Saqlain in 2021 u/s 354 of the Indian Penal Code (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), where he was sent to jail.

He further said that the Kannauj Police would take further action if the allegations against Saqlain were found true during their investigation.
