On March 6, 2023, dozens of alleged bike-borne tourists and miscreants from Punjab created a ruckus in the sacred Manikaran Sahib shrine in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. They created a scene from the Gurudwara to the bus stand via the Ram Mandir area. Most of the miscreants were Sikhs in particular.

On March 5, 2023, at around midnight, the miscreants began vandalising, and subsequently, the police were informed. They sent a search party to nab the miscreants.

These malefactors waved batons and brandished swords. Additionally, they beat up many people and destroyed the windows of residences that came in their way.

The Director General of Police (DGP) of Punjab, Gaurav Yadav and the DGP of Himachal Pradesh, Sanjay Kundu, have assured the devotees and the victims that conditions will be harmonious again.

The Himachal Police have also informed the locals that they should not fall prey to rumour-mongering on social media. The police have announced, “All tourists and Pilgrims are welcome to Himachal Pradesh.”
The Police have further assured that the situation is in total control in “Manikaran Sahib”.

The Punjab Police and Himachal Police are working together to maintain law and order. They requested the citizens not to spread hate speeches and fake news.

A Police Officer at Manikaran Police Station stated that the incident occurred, but the police have not issued an FIR (First Information Report). The police are investigating the matter, and a case will be registered accordingly.
