Rajasthan police on February 9 arrested a man from Dausa with 1,000 kg of explosives. The accused has been identified as Rajesh Meena, a resident of Vyas Mohalla. The vehicle in which the explosives were being transported has also been seized.

It is to be noted that PM Modi will visit Dausa on February 12 to inaugurate the Dausa-Sohna stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

Electric detonators, explosive shells and connecting wires were also recovered from the accused’s possession. Besides this, 65 detonators, 360 explosive pellets and 13 connecting wires were recovered.
In the initial interrogation, the accused, Rajesh Meena has said that the explosives were meant for mining.

“On a tip-off, we checked a vehicle wherein we found 10 quintal explosives and 65 detonators, which are used for using the explosives. Prima facie, it seems the explosives were for illegal mining. However, the real reason would be ascertained after a thorough investigation,” said Station House Officer (SHO) Surendra Punia.

The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Explosive Substances Act, police said, adding further investigation on the matter is underway.

The under-constriction Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is India’s longest expressway, with a length of 1,386 km. The Expressway will reduce the travel time between Delhi and Mumbai to 12 hours.

The expressway will connect the urban centres of Delhi through the Delhi-Faridabad-Sohna section of the corridor, along with a spur to Jewar Airport and Jawaharlal Nehru Port to Mumbai through a spur in Mumbai.
The Delhi-Mumbai expressway passes through the six states of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra and major cities including Jaipur, Kishangarh, Ajmer, Kota, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Bhopal, Ujjain, Indore, Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat.
