Three people have been arrested after a video of Hindu scripture being burned went viral on social media, according to police.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Narpat Singh said that the incident occurred after an initiation ceremony into Buddhism was held on December 25.
“Three people were arrested after a video of burning some pages of Hindu religious scriptures went viral. The incident occurred after an initiation ceremony into Buddhism was held on December 25. A case has been registered, and the probe is underway,” the ASP said.

A social media user Haripal Tanwar, who has posted a video in which a few people are seen burning pages, has alleged that the pages of Bhagvat Gita were burnt. At the same time, the Bhim Army members claim that they burnt pages of Manusmriti. Three people arrested were identified as Ajmal, Amritlal and Arjun Singh.

On December 25, advocates Amrit Dante, Bhant Kashyap, and their associates of Samta Sainik Dal organised a conversion programme to initiate Hindus to Buddhism. The event was organised at Bhakasar in district Barmer, Rajasthan.
Members of the Hindu community have said that the anti-social elements are trying to create a law-and-order problem in the region.
