Kerala : Enforcement Directorate has intensified investigations into the large-scale, illicit funds outlawed Popular Front of India (PFI), and its offshoots received. Now experiments are being spread to more business people in Malappuram and Kozhikode districts. Earlier, ED had traced that Rs 120 crores came to PFI kitties, by hawala or otherwise, for anti-national activities. ED and NIA are investigating its sources. The investigative officers have found that more business people have made efforts to send more monies to PFI’s accounts. Accordingly, ED has prepared a table, it is reported.
The other day, ED had seized gold and a handsome amount of money from Malappuram native Aboobaker Pazhedath’s residence and offices. It was in connection with the alleged gold smuggling through diplomatic baggage. Even though he is not directly linked with PFI, he is suspected of transferring the monies to the banned outfit’s account. Financial records and files have been seized from the offices of some businessmen who are in good rapport with Aboobaker.
It is confirmed that some others have donated black monies to PFI. Agencies are collecting the information in this respect. They have searched and seized the documents from furniture, jewellery shops and travel agencies in Kottakkal, Chankuvetty, Edarikkod, Randathani and Ponmala in the Malappuram district. A bakery owner in Palakkad has been summoned to Delhi for interrogation.
The current searches and investigations are based on the crucial information collected from PFI leader Mohammed Shefeeq arrested from Kozhikode, during interrogation. ED has found that Rs 120 crores have been spent on illegal activities and the Delhi riots of February 2020.
Central agencies have unearthed many anti-national activities and illegal financial transactions almost every day since the union government banned PFI. We have not heard any reports of the state police tracing anything about PFI. It isn’t comforting. Does the government of Kerala not have a responsibility to search and find out the anti-national activities in the state it rules? It is a question which is ‘sentenced’ to remain unanswered!
