“Killers hired to malign Islam, plot to target Muslim businesses”: Left leader sees conspiracy behind Udaipur Beheading

Malappuram: An Islamist in the garb of Communism, K T Jaleel, who is currently an MLA belonging to the ruling CPM-led LDF camp, has put forward a conspiracy theory, surrounding the Udaipur beheading.

In a desperate attempt to whitewash the Islamic attack in Udaipur in which two Jihadis beheaded an innocent Hindu tailor Kanhaiya Lal for alleged blasphemy, Jaleel said that the incident was a plot to target Muslim merchants in the region.

In a Facebook post, Jaleel, a former state leader of banned Islamist terrorist outfit SIMI, alleged that Muslim terrorists Riyaz Akhtari and Ghouse Mohammad were just masquerading as Muslims and were possibly hired by ‘somebody’ to execute the murder. “It should be examined that whether this murder was a plot planned by somebody with business interests to exterminate all the Muslim businessmen (and merchants) in Udaipur,” Jaleel said in a Facebook post.

“An inquiry should be made into the possibility that these two ‘Muslim namdharis’ were hired by giving money or other lucrative offers to destroy the peaceful lives of Indian Muslims. There is something suspicious about their physical appearance,” he further alleged.

K T Jaleel is currently an MLA from Malappuram district and served as Minister of Higher Education, Welfare of Minorities, Waqf and Hajj in the CPM-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) ministry. He had to resign from the cabinet after a state anti-corruption ombudsman declared him to be guilty of “favouritism and nepotism”.

Jaleel was accused of links to the 2020 Kerala gold smuggling case and was questioned by Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA). He was questioned by the Customs in connection with a probe into the import of copies of the Quran by the UAE Consulate in Thiruvananthapuram violating diplomatic cargo movement norms.

Jaleel was a firebrand leader of the banned Islamic terrorist outfit SIMI (Students’ Islamic Movement of India). Later he joined the Muslim Students Federation, the student’s wing of the Indian Union Muslim League, and became a CPM fellow traveller.

The SIMI, an Islamist organisation of fanatic Muslim youth, has declared Jihad against India, aiming to establish Dar-ul-Islam (land of Islam) by forcefully converting everyone to Islam or by violence.

The investigation has revealed that the beheading was preplanned. On June 17, Mohammad Riyaz Akhtari, one of the Jihadis who brutally killed Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur, warned he will start beheading and also urged others to follow his lead. Mohammad announced his plan in a video that was shot 11 days before the murder.

Rajasthan Police on Wednesday said that the main accused involved in the killing of the tailor in Udaipur were in touch with Pakistan-based organisation Dawat-e-Islami and one of them also went to Karachi in Pakistan in 2014 to meet the organisation
