Agnipath is designed in such a way that a soldier need not commit for longer service, he can enter at early age & exit at an early age wid corpus of Rs.20+ lac & above. This allows Gov to save huge expense of paying lifetime pension & diverting funds to military modernisation.

Let’s look at current recruitment setup whr the age limit is 16.5 to 21 & the new scheme has age limit of 17.5 to 21 which is now extended to 23. Service is of min 15 yrs & then he receives pension for life. Most retired soldiers work in private security agencies post retirement.

In the initial proposal this scheme was designed for only 3 years which was widely discussed during April/May but when the scheme was rolled out it was revised to be a 4 yrs service which gives additional benefits to both the sides. Retired soldiers will get extra corpus in bank.

Let us make a rough estimate that a soldier who was recruited at 20 & retired at age of 35. He has lost all vital years of his career & he is now out in job market. He has now crossed age limit of joining state police force & he is hunting for job, it will be even tough for 40+.

So post retirement career issues always existed & his pension is not sufficient to run a family. Agnipath looks much more attractive whr one retires at 22 or 23. He has ample of time & money to build his new career. He has higher chances of getting a Gov job like CRPF or Police.

Gov has already declared that 25% will be recruited for further training & permanent role in armed force. Plus they will be getting 12th pass degree along wid Corpus & Army experience letter Now lets look at United States which is running similar recruitment drive in armed force.

United State is finding hard to recruit people in armed forces. Youngsters are more attracted towards job market rather than armed forces Infact US has reduced minimum serving period frm 4 yrs to 2 yrs to make this scheme more attractive for youngsters to make money for future.

Typical areas whr US is recruiting soldiers for short term: -Infantryman -Fire control specialist -Air & missile defence crew member -Human intelligence collector -Signals intelligence voice detectors -Psychological operations specialist -Chemical, biological, nuclear specialist.

US troops are often deployed in remote locations across the globe, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq & now Eastern Europe. Whr soldiers are far away from families for years & one of the major reasons why youngsters are slowly moving away from armed forces & towards the job market.

Not only United States but even Russia is facing shortages in recruitment & it has now started recruiting foreign fighters in Russian military. Even countries like France & Germany are discussing compulsory military trainings for all, so that they are prepared to face crisis.

Even Taiwan has been caught off guard & have realised that they aren’t prepared to face a war with China if any such situation arises. Similar problems are faced by Canada. With volatile world politics, it has now given big wake up calls for several countries to start preparing.

United States is offering post retirement corpus around 50k dollars, so that youngsters are able to fund their education & pursue their dream jobs. India certainly doesn’t face recruitment crisis but we need more money for modernisation to face enemies like China & Pakistan.

Agnipath will help our armed forces to be well equipped with young blood. We can recall retired youngsters during war like situations. Trained individuals can be recruited in police force. They will also get cheaper education loans & insurance benefits. Hard to see any negatives.

Conclusion Agnipath scheme will also attract urban youth who can take military training before pursuing his dream career. In future we might hav million+ reserve force who can assist our armed force wid their skill set. 25% permanent recruitment is also big number.
