India welcomes agreement between parties to the Yemeni conflict

The Yemeni Civil War is an ongoing multilateral civil war that began in late 2014 mainly between the  Yemeni government and the Houthi armed movement, along with their supporters and allies.

New Delhi: India on Friday, June 3, welcomed the agreement between the parties to the Yemeni conflict to renew the current truce for two additional months.

MEA spokesperson Arindam Baghi said, “We welcome the agreement between the parties to the Yemeni conflict to renew the current truce for two additional months. We are encouraged by this development”. He was responding to media queries.

Bagchi further said efforts latesly got results in the “reduction in violence in Yemen during the ceasefire over the past two months as well as the first face- to-face meeting under the UN auspices between the parties to the conflict”.

“We hope that these developments would lead to further political dialogue between the parties for ending the conflict and restoring peace, security and stability across Yemen,” the MEA spokesman said.

Both camps claim to constitute the official government of Yemen
