The last eight years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi have been a ‘historic and golden period’ in the history of independent India, and the country has changed in more ways than one, said BJP national vice president M Chuba Ao
“Who can deny, India has changed in more ways than one ? And most of these changes are in positive realm. Huge expectations are built around the man called Modi ji. And we all are proud of this,” Chuba Ao told ‘Organiser’.
Answering questions, he said reforms in three sectors have taken ‘New India’ to new heights.
“There have been social reforms, necessary laws like against Triple Talaq. We have development in social sectors and welfare schemes. Poor women are happy about cooking gas and toilets. Our government has given a new dimension,” he said.
On reform strategies, Ao, who hails from Nagaland, says the Modi government has rightly made it realise the state governments or the centre cannot be only job creators. “A wrong path was followed by Congress party for years. States also followed. Naga boys and girls and hundreds of youths in other states have tremendous talent for entrepreneurship. This is the time we should exploit it,” he said in reference to the Prime Minister’s personal initiatives on startups.
He said, “The Prime Minister is absolutely right when he said the government should not be in the business of running businesses. We need to regulate business and trade and commerce”.
Innovation and competition have to be encouraged and added that with this vision, he (Ao) as chairman of Nagaland government-run PSU Marcofed, has drawn up plans with UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to open counters and promote Agri products from Nagaland.
“This is a unique attempt and it only has win-win situations for all,” said Ao, who last week called on Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow.
“The Modi government has ensured that the role of the government bodies should be to enable an atmosphere conducive for young talent and entrepreneurs to flourish. Employment will be generated on their own,” he added.
The spirit of Atma Nirbhar Bharat is guided by these lofty principles, he said.
“Even before becoming the Prime Minister, Modiji as Gujarat Chief Minister had advocated these virtues under the slogan of ‘Minimum Government and Maximum Governance’. And now that he is in power, he is implementing it. That’s the BJP all about, we keep our promises,” said Ao, who is also party’s in-charge for Meghalaya.
