The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) General Secretary Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga Monday (April 18) filed a police complaint against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for not taking any action in the Bargari desecration case.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is also the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

During the campaigning for the assembly elections in Punjab, Kejriwal had promised the voters that if his party came to power in the state, Bargari desecration cases would be looked into within 24 hours.

It has been a month since Bhagwant Mann took oath as chief minister of Punjab, and no action has been initiated in the case.

In the first reported case of desecration of Guru Granth Sahib, torn pages of the Guru Granth Sahib were found in Bargari in October 2015.

The SAD government (2007-17) and the Congress government (2017-22) had been accused of doing nothing in the case. The people expressed their massive anger against both the parties for not taking the issue of desecration seriously.

In the assembly elections in Punjab this year, AAP won 92 of the 117 assembly seats. AAP’s Bhagwant Mann was sworn in as chief minister on March 16.
