Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said students up to class ten will have to study India and Assam history and geography as a compulsory subject from the next academic year. 
 
Guwahati: Indian-Assamese History and Geography will be a compulsory subject in schools in Assam, informed chief minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. Students up to class ten will have to study India and Assam history and geography as a compulsory subject from the next academic year. He was interacting with the media on the occasion of completing 100 days of BJP led government in Assam.

 

The chief minister said that Assam would implement the National Education Policy from the next academic year by amalgamating the High Schools and Higher Secondary schools of the state. On completing 100 days of his government, Dr. Sarma announced many schemes and plans taken by the state government.
 
As per the government's decision, all priests (Pujari) and 'Naamghoria' (prayer leader of Assamese Naamghar) will get onetime aid of rupees 15 thousand from the state government as covid relief. About 60 thousand drivers and helpers of public busses, which were incurring losses because of covid restriction, will get onetime aid of 10 thousand from the government. Dr Sarma informed that so far, Assam has administered almost one crore 52 lakhs of covid vaccines. In the last 100 days, the Assam has administered almost one crore 22 lakh covid vaccines.

 

The chief minister announces that almost 42 lakh families of the state will get monthly 1000 rupees of direct bank transfer aid from the government under the “Arunudoy” scheme. He further revealed that the Assam government is planning to convert all the public buses in Guwahati city to electric and CNG buses to reduce the carbon emersion in the city. The chief minister further informed that cow smuggling has come down to almost nil in the state during the last three months due to the strict vigil of Assam police.
