“Preliminary investigations revealed that terrorists had fired upon one person identified as Ghulam Hassan Lone… near his house, in which he received critical gunshot injuries…He was immediately shifted to the nearby hospital for treatment, where he was declared dead,” police said in a statement.

Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari termed the incident barbaric and conveyed deep anguish over the innocent killings of political activists who lay down their lives for the public welfare. Junaid Mattu, mayor of Srinagar and head of the youth wing of the J & K Apni Party, posted on Twitter, “Deeply saddened and anguished by the killing of our prominent political worker Ghulam Hassan Lone from Devsar, Kulgam. I condemn this cowardly act of terror in the strongest of terms. My thoughts and prayers are with Lone Sahab’s family. Allah Jannat Naseeb Karey. Ameen.”
On Tuesday (August 17), terrorists had shot dead a BJP leader Javed Ahmad Dar, who was the constituency in charge of the party, at Bazloo village of Kulgam.
