New Delhi: In order to promote the habit of feeding the hungry, the Roti Bank organised a function on February 27 to worship the Goddess Annapurna. Noted Kathavachak Ajay Bhai presented the significance of roti, society and the nation through songs. Representatives from various Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs) and social as well as business organisations attended the function.
The Roti Bank was started by some energetic and progressive businessmen of Azadpur Vegetable and Fruits Market in June 2015 and today it has 30
branches in Delhi and other parts of the country. Inspired by the Roti Bank, about 100 organisations are working to ensure meals to the hungry at their own level. In Delhi alone, Roti Bank has been able to feed about two lakh hungry people. Shri Rajkumar Bhatia, team member of the Bank, appealed to the people to help in the initiative so that more branches of the Roti Bank could be opened and there remains none
hungry in the society.
Swayamsevaks plant 50,000 saplings in Haryana
Sonepat: In a unique initiative for environment protection, RSS swayamsevaks along with the local people planted 50,000 saplings in Jind, Sonepat and Hansi Districts of Haryana on February 28. The saplings for the initiative were provided by Khushhali Foundation. Five saplings were planted by each family. They include the saplings of fruit bearing trees. The swayamsevaks in groups planted 20,000 saplings in 200 families of 21 villages in Jind District. RSS Gram Vikas Pramukh Shri Kuldip said 15,000 saplings were planted in Hansi and equal number of saplings were planted in Sonepat District. On this occasion Shri Kuldip also educated the villagers how to ensure development of their villages themselves and how to strengthen the employment and educational opportunities there. He said the country cannot witness all round development without the development of the villages. He said instead of depending upon the government for everything, we should ensure our contribution in development. n
Training camp of VHP Sewa Vibhag
Jaipur: A two-day training camp of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad Sewa Vibhag was organised from February 25 to 26. Workers from nine districts of Rajasthan participated in the camp. VHP central secretary Shri Anand Prakash Goel and Mahant Shri Harishankar Dasji Maharaj addressed the gathering at the concluding ceremony. Shri Geol stressed the need to start more activities in the localities where conversion activities take place more. Shri Subhash Saini and Shri Kishori Lal Meena also guided the workers during the camp.
Change in social mindset required to improve the condition of women
New Delhi: Noted social activist and Akhil Bharatiya Mahila Samanvya Pramukh of RSS Sushri Geetatai Gunde stressed the need of extensive change in the social mindset to improve the condition of women. She was speaking at a seminar organised jointly by Chetana and National Commission for Women on February 25 to discuss the ‘Impact of the laws enacted for marriage and property rights of the women’.
Geetatai expressed concern over the incidents of honour killing instances in Khap Panchayats. “The condition of women degraded more than the degradation seen in the society. It needs to be seriously thought. When we talk about rights, we also equally stress on the duties, and the duty has been connected with the dharma, which is not a way of worship but the method of
following the duties towards the family, society and the country. What is required on our part to act is dharma,” she said adding that the changes in the laws should be made keeping in view the social structure. “Curb on social evils is must but when we talk about any reform, we must think in totality and not in pieces,” she said.
Advocate Smt Jyotika Kalra said merely enacting a law is not enough for social change. There is also the need to change the mindset of individuals. She applauded the steps being taken by Chetna in this regard. Prior to it, Smt Pragya Parande, general secretary of Chetna, said Chetna is trying to provide a platform to the creativity already in individuals.
Thousands pay homage to Haldekarji
Hyderabad: Thousands of swayamsevaks paid emotional tribute to senior RSS Pracharak Ramchandra Sadashiv Haldekarji during his last rites held at Amberpet crematorium on February 24. Haldekarji passed away on February 23 at the age of 87. As per his wish, his eyes were donated to Vasan Eye Care Centre.
Later paying tribute at a condolence meeting held at Keshav Nilayam RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhayyaji Joshi said Haldekarji worked in a very challenging environment and devoted himself completely as a ‘tapasvi’ in building the Sangh work primarily in undivided Andhra Pradesh as a Pracharak. Though his mother tongue was Marathi, he learnt Telugu to integrate himself, and applied his language skills in translating Dr Hedgewar’s life and Sangh literature. When his body did not cooperate for travelling, he used his pen to continue the Sangh work.
Sah Sarkaryavah Shri V Bhagaiah and many other senior functionaries were also present. Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu recalled his association with Haldekarji and said he maintained a very deep personal affection with every swayamsevak as well as with their
families. His life will be an inspiration for all. Sevika Samiti Pramukha Karyavahika Seethakka, Union Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, Kshetra Pracharak Shri Shyamji were also
present on the occasion.
Pathey Kan felicitates Postmen
Jodhpur: At the readers meet, Pathey Kan, the largest circulated fortnightly magazine of Rajasthan, felicitated postmen for their contribution in the society. The function was held at the Auditorium of Jodhpur Industries Association on February 25. Addressing the gathering RSS Prant Bauddhik Pramukh Shri Mahendra Dave said the literature plays a significant role in inculcating healthy values in the society and the role of postmen in all such endavours is highly valuable. Basically, they are the people who ensure the supply of literature to the general public.
Began in 1985 with 500 copies, Pathey Kan has been playing a key role in the promotion of healthy literature and enjoys reach even to the remote areas of the State. The postmen were felicitated by presenting them the
picture of Bharatmata as a memento.
RSS Mahanagar Sanghachalak Shri Prakash Jeeravala and Mahanagar Karyavah Shri Richhpal Singh were also present. Some postmen were also felicitated at a function in Falodi on February 26.
