‘No reason to support cruel Tipu’s Jayanti
Bengaluru: ‘Tippu Sultan was a religious bigot and a cruel ruler who imposed his faith on the people. The people of Karnataka will oppose any move by the State Government to celebrate the birth anniversary of the cruel king,” said RSS Kshetra Sanghachalak Shri V Nagaraj on October 28. He was addressing the mediapersons at Rashtrotthana Parishat on the resolutions passed at the recently concluded RSS Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal meeting held in Hyderabad. “Tippu was an intolerant King. He killed innocent Kodavas. Many historians like Kirmani, Mutthanna have chronicled Tippu’s religious hatred and Bigotry,” he said. RSS hasn’t organised any protest event to oppose Tippu Jayanti. However, it will support all like-minded civic organisations and institutions who oppose and protest against Tippu Jayanti. “There was massive destruction of temples and heavy religious conversions occurred during his rule,” said Shri Nagaraj. RSS Prant Prachar Pramukh Shri Vadiraj was also present at the press meet. (VSK Karnataka)
