Kenya to Close Mosques?

According to Kenya”s The Standard report, Kenya would close down mosques that are suspected of radicalising youths into extremist groups like al-Shabaab.
Director of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Ndegwa Muhoro said the Kenya government closed down a mosque in Machakos where more than 30 youths were arrested while being recruited by al-Shabaab.
“We have information that these mosques are coming up in regions where young men and women are being recruited to join al-Shabaab. The government will make sure that they are immediately closed down as they are contributing in increasing crime in the country,” he said.
In response Muslim leaders have protested against threats to shut down Mosques. Nairobi (capital city of Kenya) Senator Mike Sonko has warned the police not to close mosques suspected of radicalising youth. He said police should identify radicals engaged in illegal activity and arrest them.
“If the police already have intelligence that radicalisation is taking place in some mosques, why not arrest the culprits instead of closing the mosque, which will affect other worshippers who have nothing to do with crime?” Sonko said.

Hindu girl raped in Bangladesh ?

In a recent happening, a destitute Adibashi girl was raped in Gaibandha District of Bangladesh.
It is reported that, since one year perpetrator Mohammad Kalam (28) had been eve-teasing the Adibashi victim. Despite repeated requests by the victim’s father Raben Murmu, police did not take any action against the perpetrators. On 25.08.2014, while the victim was on the way to purchase some eatables, Mohammad Kalam with his two mates caught the victim, took her away and forcefully raped her.
Raben Murmu lodged First Information Report (FIR) at Govindagonj police station under section 7/9(1)/30 of Women and Children Repression Act, 2003 against Mohammd Kalam (28) and unknown two perpetrators.
Later Advocate Rabindra Ghosh of Bangladesh Minority Watch (BDMW) requested ABM Zahidul Islam, Officer in Charge of Govindagonj police station for legal assistance and asked why the victim was not produced before the Civil Surgeon for medical treatment in time; but the police did now answer satisfactorily and said as the incident of rape was communicated with Police station on September 3, 2014. BDMW observed discriminatory attitude on the part of the police and is demanding urgent arrest of the perpetrators to bring them to justice. Meanwhile, the perpetrators are putting constant pressure on the victim family to settle the matter amicably.
