Ancient Indian values can only ensure sustainable global peace and progress, said RSS Sarsanghachalak Mohan Bhagwat in inauguration of Vishva Hindu Parishad’s Golden Jubilee celebration ceremony held on August 17 in Mumbai. “Hindustan is a Hindu nation…Hindutva is the identity of our nation and it (Hinduism) can incorporate others (religions) in itself,” he added.
“For the next 5 years, we have to work with the aim of bringing equality among all the Hindus in the country. All Hindus should be drinking water at one place, should be praying at one place and after their death, their bodies, should be burnt at the same place,” he said. VHP has been working all over the world with this motto for the last 50 years. He indicated to the VHP functionaries that this is a time to analyse and introspect the functioning of the organisation.
VHP Executive President Dr Pravin Togadia in his opening remarks, reviewed major achievements of the VHP and outlined vision for the future course of action of the organisation.
“In the last fifty years, VHP through 54,000 rural educational institutions have imparted education and sanskaras to 20 lac tribal and underprivileged students. There are around 60,000 social service projects based on self sufficiency model and 550 Gou-shalas (Cow protection centres) are being run through the organisation”, he said.
The organisation has resolve to have its units in each village and every ward of urban cities. He also elaborated on various schemes such as self help groups, health centres, organic farming and cow protection. He reiterated that the efforts will be made to accomplish the resolve of reconstructing Ram Temple and bringing laws to ban cow slaughter and religious conversion.

International President of VHP Shri Raghav Reddy reviewed the contribution of the Parishad at the international level and elaborated on path that will reinstate India as the Vishva Guru.
Chairman of the Golden Jubilee Celebration committee Dr Veerendra Heggade of Dharmasthal Temple, Karnataka in his presidential address said that “Service to human kind is the biggest service to God.”
Modern science and technology should be used to get rid of backwardness in the Hindu society, said the vice-president of the Organising Committee Shri Madhavan Nair, eminent scientist and former chief of Indian Space & Research Organisation (ISRO).
Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji, Jain Saint Naypadmasagarji Maharaj, Buddhist seer Shri Bhadant Rahul-bodhi, Sikh leader Shri Gurucharan Singh Gill also attended the meet. The occasion was blessed by Respected Pejawar Swami Vishweshteerthji Maharaj, Govind Dev Giriji Maharaj and Veshveshwaranandji Maharaj. Shri Champat Raiji, Secretary of VHP introduced the Executive Committee of the Golden Jubilee celebrations.
VHP’s Golden Jubilee has been celebrated all over the country. On the occasion, VHP, Delhi has organised programmes like blood donation camp, tree plantation and about 150 shobha yatra as a part of its golden jubilee celebrations. The celebrations are organised to reach out to the people with the achievements of VHP. VHP has worked to eradicate the evils of the society, which includes communalism, untouchability, security and conservation of Hindu rituals, Ram Setu, Amarnath Yatra etc. VHP Delhi President Shri Rikhab Chandra Jain, Parnt Mantri Shri Vijay Gupta, Shri Ram Pal Singh Yadav and many more dignitaries from Arya Samaj temples, Gurudwara Management Committees and Hindu parv Ayojan attended the celebration.                                                     —Bureau Report
