REPORT-2

R Guru Prasad

A function was organised in Bengaluru on April 6 to felicitate veteran BJP leader Shri Basavaraj Patil Sedam after his election to Rajya Sabha. Speaking at the function he said he would  discharge his duty as a Member of Parliament on the guidelines set  by the Jan Sangh founder Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee and Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya and assured a cent per cent concentrated effort in nation building minus selfish gains.
Shri Sedam was full time RSS Pracharak prior   to serving  BJP as state president of  Karnataka.  Apart from Shri Sedam, retired IAS  and BJP’s central election cell convener Shri R Ramakrishna was also elected to Rajya Sabha.

Shri Sedam  said, “I assure you that I will work on the ideology of Dr Mookerjee and Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya. I believe that our individual personality  is associated with us  but not on the chair (power). With this Rajya Sabha post my responsibility has increased. Wherever I go or whatever position I  reach, I will never forget the fact that I have to keep my legs  on the grounds”. Shri Sedam acknowledged the monetary assistance of whopping Rs 150 crore given by Infosys Foundation for the all-round development of Hyderabad Karnataka region under his guidance.

Shri Sedam was inactive in BJP for some time but achieved a bigger milestone by developing the much neglected Hyderabad Karnataka (HK) region single handedly beyond imagination. He became president of  Shree Kottala Basaveshwara Bharatiya Shikshana Samithi (BBSS) in Sedam Taluk, which was founded by  the late Madivalayya Swamiji in the year 1974. He established many educational institutions under BBSS including a  High School in Mudhool Taluk, a Law College in Sedam Taluk,  Matruchaya Composite Jr. College in Sedam, Nrupatunga Degree College in Sedam, Narmada Devi Gilda Primary, High School and PUC College in Sedam.

Sri KN Govindacharya,  renowned thinker, appreciated Shri Basavaraj Patil Sedam for thinking global and acting local.  He said  we have to build the nation by helping farmers, students and people from all walks of life to achieve their goal.

Sudha Murthy of Infosys Foundation said  honesty, hard work and selfless service of Shri Basavaraj Patil Sedam is reflected in  transformation of HK region.

Deputy Chairman of Karnataka State Planning Board Shri Ramachandra Gowda  established a link to Vivekananda going to America with Shri Basavaraj Patil Sedam entering Parliament. He said, “Many people went to America and returned, but Vivekananda went to America and created a history. Similarly, many people entered Parliament and returned without any trace, but Shri Basavaraj Patil Sedam will create history in Parliament.”
