BANASHANKARI unit of RSS Sewa Vibhag in Bengaluru along with Narayan Netralaya, organised a free eye testing and surgery camp on June 26 at semi rural area of Gottigere. The camp was attended by nearly 607 villagers who are economically deprived and could not afford entry into higher hospitals for their check up of vision-related ailments.
Apart from eye testing, diagnoses for specific cause and health status of eyes, mineral-nutrient requirements, the cataract surgery was also conducted. A total of 44 villagers were benefitted from the surgery. People beyond the age of 55-60 get cataract problem, but for these villagers the camp was a blessing in disguise as the surgeries were conducted free of cost. Spectacles to 274 patients with poor vision were distributed free of cost.
