What will teachers learn?

The 40-week programme consists of 40 modules, with each module requiring an estimated 6 to 8 hours of study. A new module is opened every Monday and is expected to be completed within a week. The entire course, including the final examination, is to be completed in 40 weeks. The syllabus begins with the fundamentals of Science education before moving into Physics, Chemistry, Biology and environmental topics. The course starts with basic topics like What is Science, How Scientific Knowledge is Built, How Children Learn, Active Learning, Teaching-Learning Strategies, and Assessment in Science.

Focus on scientific temper and critical thinking

The course aims to help teachers develop scientific thinking, curiosity, creativity and critical thinking among students. It also focuses on helping children understand how Science works and how scientific methods are used. The programme encourages teachers to act as facilitators rather than simply giving students information. Teachers will be encouraged to ask questions, conduct individual and group activities, and help students find answers through observation, exploration and analysis. This can be especially useful for middle-school students, as they begin learning more complex concepts in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
