Shri Prakash Singh, former Director General of Uttar Pradesh Police, has stressed the need to enact stern law than POTA to prevent growing terrorism in the country. He said the situation of national security is deteriorating day-by-day in the country and terrorism has spread all over the country assuming a dangerous form in Uttar Pradesh. He said the terrorists enter India without fear and return safely after finishing their tasks and those who are caught are released due to lack of loopholes in the law. Shri Singh was addressing the 47th state convention of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in Varanasi on February 3. More than 1000 delegates from 54 places of the state participated in the convention, which began on February 2 with the inauguration of an exhibition on 1857 War of Independence by Swami Avimukteshwara-nanda from Kashi Vidyamuth.
The noted security expert further said the Government of India do not have stern laws like America and France. That is why the terrorists do not fear. More than 1.5 crore Bangladeshi infiltrators have entered India and about one third population that decides the future of our country'spolitics, is foreigner. But the government is not doing anything to solve the problem. He said the condition of women is very bad in the country and they are being used as a commodity of demonstration and the Indian media is openly denigrating their asmita. He called upon the youth to be ready for fighting against all these problems.
Shri Atul Kothari, joint organising secretary of ABVP, said the commercialisation of education would enhance division in the society. He said the self-financed education system is nothing but commercialisation in which only the rich could get higher education. He stressed the need to improve the quality of education. He said the ABVP has taken some steps in this regard by organising educational and intellectual seminars all over the country to educate the countrymen and policy makers. He said the Shiksha Bachao Andolan Samiti has achieved good success in protecting the distortion of history books by the present UPA government. The country needs the education system in which everyone can get quality education and develop their personality. The ABVP would continue to educate the society for this objective.
Earlier, Dr Payal Sirohi, national vice president of ABVP said it is the era of change and the Indian youth have great potential of bringing the desireable change in the country. Dr Vivek Nigam, newly elected state president, appealed to the youth to present an ideal of their personality. Shri Suryanath, state organising secretary of ABVP, said workers of ABVP are working for strengthening the national unity and integrity. On first day of the convention, Dr Vivek Nigam and Shri Santosh Kumar were elected state president and state secretary respectively.
