SILCHAR: As a part of the nation-wide campaign to save Ram Sethu, Rameswaram Ram Sethu Raksha Manch of South Assam too has been mobilising public opinion through various agitational programmes. Shri Bimal Nath Chowdhury, a distinguished educationist and important functionary of the Manch, said, ?Pseudo-secularists, atheists and extraneous forces have ganged up to sabotage Ram Sethu.?

The existence of Sri Ram and the creation of Ram Sethu by His vanar sena is beyond questions and arguments. The oldest epics in the world, Ramayana and Mahabharat, Raghuvansha of Kalidas, Skand Puran, Vishnu Puran, Agni Puran and Brahma Puran, he pointed out, are replete with description and reference of the Sethu built 17.5 lakh years ago. Valmiki Ramayan too speaks of Ram Sethu.

Before killing Ravana, Hindu scriptures tell us how Sri Ram built the Sethu with Nal and Neel, sons of Vishwakarma, in order to cross over to Lanka through the ocean from Rameswaram. Shri Bimal Nath Chowdhury said besides being an engineering and architectural wonder, Ram Sethu is a historical glory and distinct heritage site. Shiva Linga installed there by Ram is known as Rameswar Dham.

He further added that along with ISRO, NASA in course of its exploration of the space through its Zemini XI camera could easily locate the bridge and the images of which were carried by the print and electronic media around the globe. Encyclopedia Britannica too has reference about the Adam'sBridge or Ram Sethu existing in the midst of Mannar Isle near Rameswaram in the north-west of Sri Lanka and south-east of India.

Shri Chowdhury also spoke of extraneous forces out to put down the bridge. He revealed massive deposits of thorium along southern beaches near Ram Sethu would be adversely affected if the GoI carries out its destructive operation. The work on thorium reactor in the country is progressing well which when completed will be able to produce alternative source of energy.

American for obvious reasons would like to upset the thorium processing in favour of its nuclear deal with India, he explained. GoI has taken all precautionary measures to protect Taj Mahal and Qutub Minar. But, it has no concern for the million-year-old Ram Sethu because it is easy to assault Hindu sentiments and feelings, he said.

Shri Chowdhury cautioned: ?Hindus will by all means foil the mischievous design of the UPA government to destroy Ram Sethu.?
